Good news and bad news: We are expecting our first child in the next 2mo. Sadly, we’ve also just lost a close family member. As a result, we’ve come into a little money and would like to put maybe $10-15K aside to start a college savings for baby. Does anyone have experience with this? What’s the best way to go about it? I’m not hugely familiar with this, but want to make sure I understand the fees and taxes that may be affiliated with different options. Would be grateful for any insight!
How did you find a doula? In a city that I’m not connected to new moms. Peanut users all seem to be non responsive. First time being pregnant..
I’m in my mid-40s with a 7 year old and baby. Is it too late for me to back into public accounting? I was laid off last year and found a great job in a large bank. I miss the flexibility, challenge and rigor of PA. I would love your opinions. Has the ship sailed for me in PA? If I go back I would be an experienced senior; maybe, a year or so from manager.
Omg lady won't give up her seat so this non white family can sit together who has a baby. "If these people who can't speak English can't afford to sit next to each other, why do I have to move" ewww
Maternity/belly band - how long did you use it and is it still something you’d recommend if i have a decent pile of maternity pants already by the end of my 2nd tri?
The post earlier today about a sick baby and a bad manager hasn't left my mind. Tonight, I found the article linked in the comments. Fellow mamas, don't let this be you. This hit me hard.
That moment when the call admin mutes your line when your kid starts crying in the background...
Any rumors of PWC joining the parental leave arms race? EY and Deloitte upped theirs to 16 weeks paid leave, while Don Draper PwC kicks new parents in the nuts and tells them to get back on the road
Coming back from maternity leave in a few weeks, and it looks like I need a whole new wardrobe...Is it even realistic to hope I can fit my old clothes eventually?
I need sanity check please. i am 6m pregnant with twins, have a history of miscarriages&specialists urged us to be extremely careful since covid19 can lead to stillbirth. My SO is staying with his parents this week to help with renovation. We agreed they'd follow social distancing rules while SO is living there, but he just told me his parents are spending hours with their friends in closed spaces wearing no masks! Now he has to stay 5 days longer and test prior to coming home. Right to be angry?
Baby just turned 6 month and I have been back to work for a month. Current company (in house) provides no WLB and I am thinking of going back to PA. SO thinks I am out of my mind, but I really need PA flexibility. Any advice?
Any advice on how to hand in my notice to a boss who is on maternity leave? I've had a job offer come to me that is too good to turn down and they need me to start soon.
Anyone else freaking out about Delta? My baby is 6 months and starts daycare on Monday. I feel like I’m sending my kid into harms way (I can’t afford a nanny).
Out sick one day and worked from home. Come in the next day and male client asks me in front of the entire team “are you pregnant?” (I’m not) 😐 is this very inappropriate or am I overreacting?
Attending work events while on leave: Hey 🐠 - is there a consensus on whether or not to attend events like the office holiday party while on a LOA like Parental leave? Is it weird?
South Florida (Broward or Miami Dade) what's your favorite tax firm with normal work conditions for a single mother with 2 kids that needs WLB. 9-5 is ideal but I can work things out. Or other accounting suggestions for someone with a masters in Tax and 3 CPA exams out of the way.
New parents - how are you balancing work and childcare demands? Please share your tricks!!! It’s been 14 months since our first child and still struggling. Been waking up 4am to get work done, but plans often get derailed with unforeseen circumstances with childcare needs. And not to mention burnout with long days of staying up, for childcare, home and work routines. Context - male here, M, working spouse, 14 month baby, started daycare for few months now, no immediate family support to help.
Had an interview 2 weeks ago that went really well. Haven’t heard a yes or no just emails asking me to stay tuned. What does that mean? Am I on a waiting list?
Hey guys - I work at FAANG right now, and planned on an mba in the next 2-3 years. Have an opportunity with McKinsey as a consultant. Always wanted to work there, but only for a short stint - feel like it will 1) boost my overall profile for an mba application 2) give me the experience I’m looking for before mba because post mba I’d like to focus on my own venture. Also folks at McKinsey - would love to hear what conditions there are for getting an mba sponsored at the firm. Thanks!
Anyone know how what the salary range is like for senior analyst for paid search at Edelman?
For Mega Backdoor Roth contributions why do most articles/people focus on conversion to Roth IRA vs. Roth 401k? Been doing the former for years but starting to think latter might be easier/cheaper.
Bain reached out to me. Any thoughts on interviewing with and potentially working at Bain?
Hi everyone, for those of you who became US citizens, did you have to renounce Indian citizenship before getting a visa to go back to India? Trying to plan an emergency trip and am a little confused by this process.
What's the best way to prepare a business case presentation? I've been invited to a final round interview for a medical device company as a process optimization consultant. They sent me a client case study. In the case there are pain points of the client, and some numbers to analyze their workflow and recommend them to use their medical devices for process improvement. I'm not sure how to stucture it. how would you approach it?
Any advice on books, podcasts or websites about beginner money and specifically investing in the market (mutual funds, stocks, etc) that is geared toward teens or college age kids? My Christmas gift to my 19 year old nieces is going to be helping them open their “first” brokerage account and putting some seed money into it and helping them learn how to manage and invest. Any recommendations of age appropriate/beginner resources for that demographic?
Interviewing for jobs honestly sometimes feel like the hunger games where only one person survives the fight
I’m 36, earn 100k and I work maybe 30 hours a week, and I’m a shining star. It allows me to enjoy life without stress. I can linger around and see myself (slowly) climbing the ladder. But part of me wants to put in hard work and grow a lot in my career and earn more for a stable financial future, but it means I’ve got to work more and stress more and I’m worried I won’t get time to relax and enjoy my life as before. But also I’m worried I’ll slack off. Anyone going through this? Would I regret?
I’m trying to fix my resume, so I can be fully prepared if more layoffs happen at ACN. I really want to include client names, rather than a long description. I know about the NDAs, but what if we’re not disclosing confidential info and the partnership is public? What do you guys suggest? I really want my resume to be noticed.
Hello, we recently built out a technology team at our company. They are a phenomenal team with great work flow, rapport and collaboration however, most are junior in their career which can make it difficult for our senior lead to step away. They all receive professional dev allowances so we would like to work toward identifying possible future leads and laying out a growth plan. Do any of you have best practices, tips or resources in doing this specifically for tech talent?
What is a good website to compare financial advisor options? I’m looking at individual profiles on NAPFA and CFP but I am not getting a good sense of which firms / agents are better than others.

Does Big4 hire ACCA individuals from international countries (they will not need visa sponsorship and would be legally authorized to work in USA).
For California HR folks: I know this is probably super obvious but I want to be sure I’m right… if Company policy states that hourly employees based in California earn 1 hour of PTO for every 40 Hours worked, and the accrued PTO is paid out upon termination, is this policy compliant under CA law?
Career Options: Recent CPA, have Masters in Accounting. Currently live and work on LI (Banking Ind.) at 70k/year. I enjoy learning and am aiming for CFE next. Any recommendations on Big4?
