listening to my gf’s graduate zoom class and overheard:
I love dogs so much — other people’s dogs. Taking care of my friend’s dog for a few days and i’m already about to lose it. Woke me up at 4am, now won’t sleep unless on top of me. I hate this

Partner at 9 am: can you help me on an urgent matter? I’ll give you a call soon. Me: sure. Still waiting for the call… CLEARLY IT WASN’T URGENT KAREN.
If you're taking a flex weekend trip and you miss your layover flight, causing you to wait til the next morning, can you expense the hotel for that night? 🤔
My org is going through a restructure where we are creating a new COE focused exclusively on employee relations. In the current state, HRBPs have to balance between strategic functions and ER, so it's an exciting prospect. However, I'm a little concerned about stepping on each other's toes and want to give input on how this model can most effectively function.
Anyone have a model they can share or point to which demonstrates how this can work?
Looking for hope: are there any attorneys here that didn’t get great grades in an alright law school but have found their way/path to their dream job? bonus points if that dream job is in-house or at an entertainment law boutique-type firm. I’m just trying to get a glimpse of how I should be feeling as a newly-admitted attorney in my first post-law-school job (that I really don’t want to stay at in the long run). It’s been a disheartening few months.
What's your favorite or least favorite (or both!) medical-based shows? I dreamt of going into medicine as a kid bc of House, and now I watch reruns and they are soooo cringey.
I got pitched by this company that guarantees me meetings with CPAs/Attorneys that are looking to refer to FAs and they don't have a relationship currently. I'm very skeptical. Thoughts?
I know this was asked earlier but can't find the thread - has anyone successfully made the switch from a client facing role into something more internal (and relatively less taxing) like recruiting?
Wife (30) is an immigrant who just got her EAD. She has two degrees in teaching from her home country (South Africa), one of which would be considered Master’s equivalent. She is currently nannying and was an au pair when we met. She hates it and doesn’t want to work with kids anymore at all. What jobs would be a good fit for her that don’t involve direct childcare or dealing with families?
Is public accounting considered relevant experience for business/financial analysts? Min requirement of job posting is 3 years of relevant experience but was not sure if my experience is considered "relevant".
Anyone have experience with or know anything about Envision Healthcare? I'm wondering about the type of work they do, culture, comp/benefits, etc.
“McKinsey & Company has agreed to pay $573 million to settle investigations into its role in helping “turbocharge” opioid sales, a rare instance of it being held publicly accountable for its work with clients.” Thoughts?
I am an 8 year insurance defense associate and just interviewed at an Amlaw200 firm and I think they are going to make me an offer. If I get the job they want me to reach out to my firms current clients on my cases and let them know where I’m going and what I’m doing so they can either follow me or send me work in the state I’m currently in. How do I do that without burning bridges with my current firm? How do I do that without seeming like I’m straight up trying to steal clients? TIA.
My home equity line of credit just closed. What are creative uses of the funds if I don't have any revolving debt? Mostly opened it as a safety cushion in an emergency
