Hello! RN with 8 years of experience, most recently as a Quality Improvement Consultant where I execute improvement projects related to organizational goals and strategies. I graduate in August with my MBA & MSN and am looking for advice or input on roles to consider that involve a remote workspace, travel, and are lucrative.

I am interested in Consulting at a large firm, but also feel sales or informatics would be interesting spaces to enter.

Thanks!

In November 2021, i was working in Tcs at a package of 4.1 on Mainframes. I was not happy at all with my career. Learnt a new technology(Cloud). Gave interviews, rejected by few companies including Deloitte. Kept going..
Joined Accenture as a Cloud Engineer. In December 2022, I will be earning a package of 12. Got one certification, aiming for 2nd one. All this within a span of 12 months. These are brilliant times in tech. Keep hustling. Success will be yours.

I am in a tech IC position. One of friends switched to FAANG by converting the profile to consultant profile. The friend who might have less tech knowledge than me is now in FAANG and earning more. If the end goal would be that the friend might one day be a product manager and me an engineering manager taking instructions from the same friend, isn't consultant profile an easier path to growth. I had been practising DSA for years and the competition is only ever growing.

Those of you who left for industry, what do you work towards in your role? I was reflecting on my time in public and there was always something, whether it was a new section in the file, getting more client contact, getting invited to a big golf outing, running the jobs, managing the jobs, etc. I worry that leaving would leave me bored and not motivated to hit any sort of goal. I’m burnt out and worry that I’m making a rash decision lol. Thoughts?

Is there defined promotion criteria from LA to SA? Or does it depend on admin chain, org, and/or politics?

She is looking at LA positions now as a potential comeback kid, and while she was at BAH 10+ years ago, she's forgotten the details, though they'd likely be severely outdated even if she remembered.

I am an Electrical Engineer with 9 years of experience, plus 3 years as a electrical technician at Dominion Power and only making $81,000/ year. Pretty low right? Received a job offer via video call. The hiring manager was thoroughly providing pertinent information and everything was going well. Then as she said, “…with a starting salary of…” the connection cut out. 🤣 Came back on as she was explaining the time period for bonuses.

Got an interview as a marine superintendent at the port of NY/NJ - their beginning salary isn’t as great as I thought it would be - 60K but they told me after 6 months of employment we get 12K bonuses divided over 12 months. So salary would be $72K. I asked someone who works there and they told me bonuses depends on how the terminal is operating, sometimes its less. Are they being misleading with the salary ? How can I get them to guarantee the bonuses after 6 months of employment ?

Im going to counter offer in the morning, I guess by sending an email? Thinking about aiming for 5k bump in base and 10k bump in equity? Is that unreasonable?
