Hello fishes, I joined Nagarro on 24th of August. But still no project is assigned yet. Basically I am on bench. Now I am about to get an offer from ServiceNow. I really wanna join ServiceNow as it's a big product based organisation and the competition is really high compared to Nagarro. ServiceNow is giving me a joining date of 1st October. As I am still on bench, will I get released by Nagarro soon ? Because no project is allocated to me.

^I was with you till the whole “stepping stone to Chicago” bit. Literally the dumbest statement on this thread
Quality of life is better in SF: best national parks all within a 60min drive, great climate, good food, smaller and more laid back than NY. That said, NY has a lot more going on, feels much more cosmopolitan, and has energy for days. You’re going to bleed money living in both but it’s all about what you want to pay for: a California life or a NY life.
Sr Copywriter: Ever heard of Lyft or Uber? Getting around in SF is easy.
I’ve lived in both for about the same amount of time. In NYC right after school for my 2 jobs. It was great to be a young crazy person with unlimited energy and alcohol tolerance. Summers in the park, winters braving blizzards for house parties and basement bar dancing. It was fucking awesome and I loved every second of it until I met my person and settled down a bit. Then got claustrophobic and frustrated by what a pain in the ass it was to do weekend trips and get out of the city. Got a gig in SF (long enough ago that rent wasn’t insane) bought a car and never looked back. Mild temp all year long. A few hours from snowboarding and lake life in Tahoe, camping and hiking in Yosemite, wineries in Napa/Sonoma. Food is still great, but bars and restaurants close way early compared to NYC. I love going back to visit and see friends, but all we do is eat, drink and shop, which just isn’t what I enjoying doing as much anymore. Also, lyft and Uber are headquartered here so there’s no problem getting around. Long story short, figure out your non-work life priorities and go from there!
SF you can do more outdoorsy stuff. Everything else sucks.
You can actually have a car in Sf. Still can’t own anything though. For such a big city Sf has a weird dearth of taxis so getting around can be a little tricky. Public transport is a wash. Better restaurants in nyc imo. Sf has a limit on building height so it doesn’t feel as claustrophobic. I like both cities but no where on earth feels like nyc, in a good way.
SF doesn't have Brooklyn, so there's that.
As a current Chicagoan who’s desperately trying to get out to either NYC, SF or LA (and out of advertising altogether), I agree with Freelance 1.
I’ve lived in both myself, and what everyone is saying is right: NY is super fun and inspiring, while SF has the most beautiful nature around and very mild weather. After 5 years in NY, I’m loving this new reality, but I’m married with a dog in my thirties. ;)
You should experience both for a few years. It will look good on a resume, too
SF you have hippies. NY you have hipsters. Take your pick.
Maybe not Chicago but certainly LA.
Surroundings are good but it’s not a creative city anymore. It’s all tech, and no one here respects creatives. If you stick within the creative community you’re fine. But you’ll get a lot more inspiration/fulfillment out of a culture like NY.
If you're in your drunken 20s, NYC all day.
If you're in your 30s and you're sick of winter and want a better, more outdoorsy quality of life, SF can be fun. It's smaller and sleepier, but there's still plenty to do. Plus wine country is a mere 40 minute drive away.
I will say NYC is a city I fell in love with and now look at as an abusive ex I can't get over. SF is city I find myself admiring more than loving.
If I'm really honest though I think LA is the best right now.
NYC is infinitely more interesting with more culture, more diversity, more opportunity, and better people.
SF is prettier, has better burritos, and much better weather.
Both cities are littered with needles and human shit, both are really, really expensive, and both are stepping stones before you ultimately move to LA or Chicago.
Freelance - I was there 4 years ago so maybe it’s better now. Even Ubers were few and far between. And with rush time hikes Uber gets dumb
Don’t go to sf
SF has the proximity to incredible nature and good food, but that’s about it. I hated the weather because every day felt so incredibly blah and I actually had to remind myself what time of year it was. Some people love that, I hated it. If you’re an outdoorsy person who likes a mild climate and doesn’t go out very much, you might like it. Nyc is infinitely more interesting with way more opportunities, but it’s a slog and the days are long. But, to me, it’s worth it because it aligns with my interests. And while rent is comparable, you’ll have more space in SF
CW4, why?
Got it. Thank you
