Are there even 400 hours in a month?

likefunny

Yes.

How are you even surviving? I’ve been steady at 200-210 for months on end and every day feels like death.

Somehow, I have 10 deals which all simultaneously want to close at once and they’re all full speed ahead. I want to cry.

Weird flex but ok

like

Lol agree

I, too, like to punish myself like this. 400 is insane though and you definitely need to take a weekend sabbatical to Scottsdale after this.

like

Hmmm... 400 divided by 30 is 13+ hours per day. You’re saying you’re billing 13+ hours every single day for 30 days straight? including an estimated 2 hours of non-billable time on top, you’re working about 15+ hours altogether on average every single day for 30 days, not counting time you shower, brush teeth, use bathroom, and do other necessary tasks? Cool story.

like

I’ve billed 300+ five out of the last six months and can confirm it’s possible without padding. On average that includes about 1-2 all nighters per week and lots of self neglect / very little time for any semblance of a social life. But it is very, very possible (unfortunately)

like

Schedule a few days off after all the deals close. Only way to mitigate the massive burnout you’re about to experience

Hi ladies… I’m getting married next month and for budget purposes I’ve decided not to hire a DJ for my reception… and now I’m regretting it because I don’t want to bother guests/relatives to man a playlist but don’t know what else to do other than shuffle a Spotify playlist. I’m open to paying someone by the hour but not sure if there are better solutions. Thoughts?

I’m a third year business and corporate lit associate at a boutique NY firm (with heavy litigation work and some transactional work for a major well drilling company). I was just given a legal assistant because my workload has increased substantially. I’m too busy to delegate (court), and she knows nothing about law. She’s never worked in a law firm. She’s very eager to help and often gets underfoot, and the other assistants are too busy to train her. I don’t trust her enough to delegate. Tips?

As a junior associate at a boutique firm, one of my biggest stressors is navigating how involved partners want me to be on their cases. Some expect me to just take initiative to get the ball rolling on filings with upcoming deadlines, and others don’t want me to touch anything until they explicitly ask me to. I offer to do things and communicate what I’m working on, but I worry that I’m overstepping by assuming it’s ok for me to work on stuff without first being asked. Advice? Can anyone relate?
