What about turtleneck + blazer though 🔥
In the 90s whenever the news interviewed a current or former CIA, turtleneck + blazer was the outfit. Without fail.
No matter what anyone tells you....that the dress code at a client site is “casual” and you can wear jeans....as a professional you should always wear:
- “business” jeans, a slightly darker pair of jeans, no ripped jeans, no stone wash or cats whiskers
- always wear a long sleeved shirt with a collar (does not matter if it’s a button down). A shirt with a subtle pattern, stripes, checks or plain is acceptable. Nothing too shiny. Performance fabrics are ok as long as they don’t like they’re 100% polyester
- a good pair of shoes, preferably with a leather sole (loafers are good)
If you follow the above rules you will never be dressed up or dressed down !!
You cannot wear just a T-shirt - absolutely not. No you can not wear a T-shirt with a blazer either.
Ok only if you are playing Miami Vice soundtrack over PA in office
Depends on the type of work you’re doing. For example, I work in the supply chain space. I don’t often wear blazers at all. Button up (will vary in terms of casual/flannel and more dressy) and jeans every day. Context matters most
Disagree with MD1. Depends a lot on the client.
I have worked with clients where our entire team would wear polo or t shirts, jeans and sneakers. Then at some other clients I would wear jeans with a shirt or t shirt and blazer. Clients have actually told us that they like the fact that we dress like them because it makes them feel like we are all in together and the consultants are not some special group.
So op: if you see a lot of senior clients wearing t shirts and blazer, or something similar I works say go for it.
Tshirt = never
Button up or button down?
T-shirt. No buttons.
