Yes :)
Had this for a long time and it comes and goes these days too.
I feel what's helped has actually been writing down my thoughts so I can reflect and accept them.
And also, love the team and leadership I have.. they've noticed my potential and enough me to tap into it in many ways. That's why I took the job, and it's truly helped my mental health.
Find good people who see you for who you are. Trust them more than your own insecurities :)
Love this! I hope my new coach becomes a trusted confidant.
1000%. Best advice is to talk about it with people you trust - I find that most people have struggled with this at some point and hearing it's not just me helps a lot
Not a single person in my work life unfortunately :( How do you become comfortable revealing something like this to a colleague? Even the ones I’m close to wouldn’t know, I think.
There is a bunch of research / articles on imposter syndrome that I found helpful when trying to understand why I felt that way. This fastco one was interesting b/c it breaks it down by type. https://www.fastcompany.com/40421352/the-five-types-of-impostor-syndrome-and-how-to-beat-them
You can trust that many of the others you work with feel the exact same way. I’ve been doing this for awhile and till feel that way a lot of the time.
It seems some people are able to fake confidence or simply live in a false reality.
On every engagement and perhaps everyday you will learn something, knowingly or not. You will also be exposed to all kinds of colleagues. Some will be great and some less so. Watch them - emulate the behaviors you respect and as importantly be mindful not to exhibit characteristics of the ones you don’t.
It is normal to second guess yourself. It is normal to make mistakes. So, don’t beat yourself up. Do the best that you can and learn as you go. Sometimes you will get it 100% right and other times you won’t. If nothing else, the most important thing to know is that if you make a mistake no one dies. Put it in perspective. You are not operating on a patient. You are just helping some company make money or reduce cost.
Hope that helps.
