Longtime paralegal to a small-town generalist, solo prac firm. Attorney is looking to learn how to do videoconferencing in office. I’ve been researching best webcams to add to her desktop. She’s running Windows 7 on a desktop PC. Does anyone have any input/insight into the best webcams for our purposes?

Most online service providers use laptops as they have excellent built-in cameras. So it may be worth investing in a laptop for this type of work. You will avoid set up issues. We use ZOOM for all group webinars and initial client consultations. We have a digital form that we send to potential clients to complete and upload their ID and documents for review prior to the appointment. I can teach you how I do it if you want. info@njblackhall.com

Any webcam should be sufficient as long as it works with the operating system. Make sure it has a built in microphone. We weren’t able to get webcams when this started, so we’ve just been using the office laptop for video conferencing. I agree with the above. A laptop might be a better investment, depending on how tech savvy you guys are, just for ease of use.

I’m pretty tech-savvy so I suggested just using my MacBook Pro, but naturally I’m paranoid about something happening to it and also security to an extent. I’m pushing her to purchase an office laptop so we can use for other things (like if the attorney maybe wants to work from home at some point lol)

I don’t have any suggestions on products, but make sure whichever you choose is compatible with the operating system.

I have a work issued Lenovo laptop. It has a decent camera. No need for webcam. Super simple for zoom meetings. At home I just connect my laptop to a computer monitor via a USB cable.

Hi everyone, I'm new to Canada and want to start my career here in the Financial and Banking industry. I have passed the CFA level 2 exam and was wondering if I have to complete the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) as most of the job postings here mention about it. I saw that if someone passes at least the CFA level 1 exam then the requirement of CSC is exempted. Can anyone enlighten me about this? As the CSC exam costs above 1000 CAD, I wanted to be sure if I need it before investing behind it.

So just throwing this out there. Can agencies give us WFH bonuses to cover the cost of setting up a home office? I had to invest quite a hefty sum for a desk, office chair and upgrade my wifi connection. Also, can we deduct our work space rent area for tax purposes? Every little bit helps!

I think I am about to be going through a divorce. My husband and I have been "in the thick of it" for almost a year and the last couple weeks have shown me that things are not getting better. I think I'm at the end of my rope. I was having concerns 3 yrs ago, but really was able to confront issues this year. We've been married for 6 years, together 9, and have a 2 year old. I'm 30 years old. My family isn't super supportive. I'm nervous, scared, worried, all the things.
