I have ADHD too and take adderall and xanax

For me (I don't have ADHD, just a litany of other issues): it's a combination of mindfulness mediation, exercise for stress relief and detailed list making. Usually offline in a notebook, gives me one less reason to look at my phone. Also walks help.

But yeah weed can help too.

like

Sapient, you never have anything nice to say on any post. You need a vacation.

I am also ADHD and meds aren't for me. What I found helps me stay productive and not get too hyper focused is making lists. I make a list outlining every single thing I need to do, down to the painful details. That way once you are done with your list you never have to think about what to do next and the satisfaction of checking things off and documenting even the smallest amount of progress gets my brain to get out of its own way and focus on finishing.

like

@sapientrazorfish1 ... um what? I think you're trying to say something but maybe you got lost in the details and the concept just isn't coming through. Go back to the drawing board and try again. #WellAwareImNotTheFirst

I have ADD and understand your struggles quite well. Here is what I do - I keep a list of all the things that require follow-up through out the project. I take 15 minutes each morning to review the list , decide what I need to tackle versus what can wait and prioritize accordingly. I always tackle the hard things first as I have more brain power earlier in the day. At end of day I assess new things that have come in and I add those to the running list. I use tools like Trello to help me break up the tasks, keep track of things in-progress versus things I haven't started and easily change order of priority. I find that giving myself structure and doing the same rituals at the start and the end of day goes a long way in keeping me focused. I still get overwhelmed at times and in those moments I often take a quick walk to give myself a breather and reset. Lastly, making sure I get enough sleep each night goes a long way in helping me focus.

like

I'm all about praying about things, but don't remember seeing anywhere in the Bible where the tone used above is acceptable. You push ppl away from Christianity with such an attitude.

I haven't been diagnosed as ADHD, but I somewhat can relate. What helps me is same as has been mentioned, making a list - though even that can get me carried away with list of a list of a list lol. But in general it helps me (my brain) focus if not my thoughts of what there is to do start to spiral out of control and make me shut down feeling overwhelmed. So In summary, lists, then prioritizing based on deadlines, resources etc and checking items off one task at a time.

like

To respond to your OP though I have terrible ADHD, weed does not work in the slightest. I had to switch to regular adderall. An XR dose in the morning, then an immediate release tablet for the afternoon if I need to power through a deadline. Vyvanse made me way too irritable.

like

It's not that I don't care about the details, on the contrary I probably care too much as I want everything to be perfect, so after I get the general idea and direction down and it's time to fine tune things I see so many little things I need to do and I feel frozen as I don't know where to start, or I start somewhere and end up pixel humping a tiny detail to death when I need to move on... anyone else deal with this or have any tips on how to power through without turning into a giant ball of stress?

like

Vyvanse only lasts about 12 hours, if your projects are ending about that time, perhaps your medication needs tweaking.
I don't have ADHD, so I am not speaking with great knowledge, but here's a suggestion: when you reach the fine-tuning stage, try making a list of all the different items you want to fix. Some days I have multiple projects to work on, and just writing them down calms my fears that I will forget to do something important.

like

Also hahahaha wow talk about a self righteous asshole. I would @ them but I think we all know who I am taking about. 😂😂😂 #douchealert since we are doing the whole dick hashtag thing lol

like

I'm ADD and semi-anxious and I found that making lists was unproductive for me. It wasn't until someone told me that if a task requires less than 15 mins of time it doesn't belong on a to-do list. That's helped me focus and knock off my to-dos NOW rather than wait until tomorrow to revisit and put the same item on a new list, which I rarely actually get to.

Contract flow downs question. We are selling equipment to Company X so that they can sell to Company Y. Company Y is trying to push some owner flow down provisions to us. Our initial contract with Company X doesn’t include those flow downs. Would you push back? Is that standard/necessary for flow downs to go that far? Any insight is helpful.

I just found out The FDA banned Juuls in June. Not a Juul smoker, had a puff from my friends once 4 years ago., but how are Cigarettes still OK to be sold, but not Juuls? Even if you say they can’t be sold to kids. I believe they’re already not as they fall under the same sale regulation as Cigarettes, but if not, then pass a law. It just looks to me like it’s just Cigarette companies killing off their competition

It’s an amazing unit - we bought a house otherwise we would rent this apartment forever! DM if you’re interested and I can send pics / show the place.
