What are some reasons to decline a second interview? I recently interviewed for an Internal Audit role but I didn’t feel like the pay range matched the job. This IA role is for a small credit union and you’ll be the only IA. It’s a new role they came up with this year as different departments would have a a role at different audits. Their pay range is 65K - 75K DOE.
Final interview with Salesforce today for a demo engineer position. Any tips? Already made it through the technical portion so feeling pretty good.
Anyone looking to switch careers to a Marketing role with a leading Medical devices company? Looking for someone with 1-3 years experience in strategy and operations consulting. Please DM me
My friend is looking to hire auditors with financial services background (2-5 years) into a tri-State area fund! If anybody is looking for that type of role, happy to help connect a fellow PA and help them get a big raise and better work-life balance :)
Naive question. What does it really mean when a recruiter says “[company] is keeping you in view for next year”. The original position was for this year.
Which offer would you choose? 1) $135k, 1900 billable hours, formidable and growing mid-sized firm in the city; or 2) $145k, 2000 billable hours, biglaw but not a prestigious one?
Real talk: does anyone else find all the bragging about super high billable hours kind of sad? There is more to life and it just reads like life not being lived. 😔
Anyone have experience moving from agency to I’m-house or brand side? I was just let go from Edelman & it was my 2nd lay-off in 2 years and my 3rd agency. I’m worried if I look at another agency (if they’re even hiring) that I’ll get laid off again. I was an SAE. Any advice is welcome!
Curious about how many hours plaintiffs litigation attorneys work on average per week. I’m a defense attorney and billable hours don’t make for the best work life balance. Thanks in advance.
Any Slalom fish to help out on referral? Looking for west coast based. PDX or Seattle. Thank you folks
Anyone have slow months where you burn through a lot of your allotted pro bono/professional development hours to keep hitting minimum daily hours? The past few weeks have been like this for me. Should I be concerned (I.e., will this reflect poorly on me, come review time? Will I have dug myself too much of a hole if I keep burning my non-billable hours?) I’ve been asking partners if I can assist in any projects so I can fill my plate, but I’ve only gotten small (4-6 hour) tasks handed my way.
How do you pick an industry to exit to? I don’t have much experience, and I’m not a big fan of consulting, but I’m not sure where else I could get a decent paycheck and maintain some optionality to exit to an industry I like. Unfortunately, it’s not possible for me to try projects outside of my designated industry (government) at my firm. Should I switch to another consulting firm to get more exposure to other industries or should I directly exit to industry, and if so, which one?
Trying to explain billable hrs to hubs. I billed 160 this month, which he said “is only 40 hr weeks” (true) - but how many hrs do you figure you “work” or are in the office to bill 150?
Ah! If the clients ever realize the number of billable hours wasted on making slides just ‘look’ pretty!!!!
Switching consulting agencies atm. Currently I earn way below average at 42k€/p.a + car. Next week I am negotiating with another company wanting to employ me. I am actually bringing in a customer with a fixed 2 year project @ 1000€ all-in/day rate (5 billable days/week). What salary should I aim for - and what bonuses? I would love something around the market average of 65-75k is it realistic even though I am in my mid 20s?
What the most outrageous billable hours you can confirm at your firm? Just learned from a partner that the highest billers at my firm came in at 3600, 3500 and 3200. Seems fishy to me.
I am a first year associate in Biglaw. I have been put on an improvement plan to increase my billable hours. My supervisors have commented that have not been getting work because I need to improve my efficiency. I am willing to do what it takes to improve but wonder how to improve my hours when no one seems willing to give me a second chance.
Salesforce 🐠 : is there differences between a customer success role in commercial vs federal at Salesforce? Had a recruiter reach out for federal but I'd be more interested in commercial side
Anyone BCG fishes know about the sr. knowledge analyst roles? Salary? Career progression?
Any thoughts on what is annual pay range for a Salesforce BA (consultant) at a major consulting firm (not at SFDC)? 4-6 YOE with Admin cert.
Deloitte’s Diversity & Inclusion group hosted Nicole Hannah-Jones today and it was a goddamn breath of fresh air to hear her speak candidly. Even called the firm out in some places. If you haven’t seen her NYT 1619 project, educate yourselves https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2019/08/14/magazine/1619-america-slavery.html
Omg I forgot my headphones In the plane after an early morning flight with delta! Called them, waiting for a call back.. anything I can do to get them back ?
When you don't have an Uber receipt to show when you left the corporate holiday party because you walked home...and you have no idea what time you got home.
Anyone here a part time life insurance agent? Which company is best for flexible hours and high commission rate? Im in NY. If it goes well, I would like to open brokerage firm. Thanks.
I am new to RR this year. I am excited about this new journey and created this group to hear advice and tips for classroom setup, organization, and time management. Thanks to all who comment!
Under normal circumstances (I.e. pre Covid), is it much harder to get sponsored for actually academic courses like MA or MPhil as opposed to MBAs? People might say those are not as relevant as MBAs to business, but MBAs don’t strike me as anything particularly vocational either.
How much percentage hike in salary have you guys got this year? Just generally wanting to know the trend of his year.
Has anyone had the conversation on how we get Ss and Ts ready for returning in the fall? I’m not talking about mask usage, hand washing times, physical distancing in classrooms, etc. I don’t think we can expect Ts and Ss to come back and just hop right into academics. Need sometime to process together, get some SEL, be face to face social again, etc. Just wondering if districts out there have gotten a head start on this task.
Freelancers- how soon before you wrap your current project do you hustle to book the next? I'm averaging 2-3w. But is that too early? Feel like I miss on good gigs that r posted for work the week of.
What do you guys do when you’re feeling extremely burnt out from work? Been working crazy hours and projects have been bumpy. Could really use a break but got no more vacation days left...
Any recommendations on good PE interview prep courses? Looking for something that you can fully complete over a week or so. Interview is supposed to cover technical questions and a couple LBO case studies
Anyone stuck in the hell that is DFW tonight?
Is it a bad time to job search/take a new job? I’m currently in a position where my job is safe (as long as company stays in biz) but I’m wanting to move to a bigger company. Thoughts?
Hey everyone, I am a current rising college senior coming from a no target school. Since my sophomore year, I’ve wanted to work at Goldman Sachs. Now that the applications are almost open for next year’s new analyst roles. I’m really interested in applying in their internal audit and risk division. Has anyone ever interviewed with GS or done their hirevue? I would love to hear some tips on how I can boost my chance of getting interviewed. Any tips would be greatly appreciated
