Looking at joining another firm (not an MBB) and curious from those who’ve done it about their experience with the transition and integration at the new firm. What worked well? What didn’t? Pitfalls I should be aware of? Any thing you wish you knew then that you know now? Difficulties re-building traction and commercial book? Something more than standard advice would be extremely helpful. If I jump, I want to ensure it’s successful.

Clients won’t care but you’ll always be the “one from BCG” internally so prep a one minute explanation of why your time at BCG makes you even stronger at your new place, why you left, and why you love what you’re doing now. As far as rebuilding your commercial platform, have a strong functional capability, support others, make a splash, and be nice and easy to work with. Find colleagues who are overworked and be known as a pair of strong hands. Find underserved markets through sector extension, rather than new services in new markets

Hello, everyone!

I have an interview for a relatively new law firm early next week. However, upon doing more research about them, I noticed that their website has only a black-and-white website about only what the law firm is about.

My questions are:

Is this a red flag?
How do you guys prepare for interviews specifically with law firms that have little to some information on their website and Glassdoor?

Thank you so much in advance!

Do folks have trusted/valuable resources for researching luxury family travel with young kids? I don’t care the cost, I want to know what is most convenient and nice for my family. Feel like generally most resources are geared to either a) families on a budget (I don’t care which hotel is best bang for buck w/mid breakfast) or b) couples / adults only travelers. Do folks just stick to true five star hotel concierges for help? Do folks just book luxury tours like A&K? How do folks research?

Is there a general expectation that a Partner has an MBA?

I doubt it's required at most firms but I'm a pretty senior staff and when I speak with Partners, they seem to speak with an MBA level of business knowledge which extends past their technical skillset.

I realize that's what makes them good Partners but it makes me wonder if I realistically need to get an MBA to keep growing and hit Partner.
