Looking at LinkedIn contacts and all the inflated titles.

Being 'just' a product manager feels low when every one has directors and senior managers and associate directors in their title.

Maybe I'm just behind

I bet you there is so much inflation. People will judge you based on your merits mainly, and an inflated title doesn't get you promotions when you actually have a job/doesn't make you better at it. I think it's so much better to deliver/over-deliver than to fake big-ness.

Exactly this. When I've interviewed PMs at my prior places I only cared about the Products they shipped. No ship? No attention from me. My response whenever I was asked why I don't look at the title much was that if they are a product person they will do product stuff and get results. If I don't see results and achievement related to the craft then they aren't practicing the craft.

I know more than one product management rotator list product leader on LinkedIn. IMHO, ignore and move on.

Oh man, I really know what you're feeling. I try to redirect to: am I happy with where I am? Usually it's actually a yes. If it's a no, I'm like ohhh it wasn't about those people.

Don't worry, everyone loves to exaggerate and inflate their importance on LinkedIn. PMs especially so. I can't tell you how many people put "Head of Product" as their title when they're a PM 2 or something. It's not something I like about the field but par for the course in PM

What has gone wrong in Chicago in the last two years? There wasalways at least one major piece of work the whole world noticed, usually from Leo Burnett or Ogilvy. But the tone and energy of work from San Francisco and New York agencies is just light years ahead of Chicago now. It all just feels so mediocre and dated. Where is the groundbreaking idea? Do you need financial backers for the most forward thinking teams to open a place? You can’t blame clients, clients ared the same everywhere.

Last month I was interviewed at Nagarro. I got the offer but I rejected and did not join. Sent the mail to recruiter.

A week ago I received a gift pack courier from Nagarro. What to do? Return or Keep since they didn't ask to return. 😅😄

Folks are turning LinkedIn into Facebook and I’m happily “Unconnecting” the cringeworthy posts 😭

Hi Fishes,
Searching for a Job or referral. I have working experience of 6 years with good knowledge of Accounts (Tally), Operations and Sales coordination.

Is moving to the East Village or LES worth it now with COVID? My partner and I are introverts and don’t mind the lack of night life. Our appeal to the area is being surrounded by young people, the availability of nice restaurants for take out or dine outdoors, nice parks and crossing off our bucket list to live in the city. We also don’t mind if the neighborhood will be a little quiet, but I’ve heard there’s more homeless people, shady people roaming around outside now? Appreciate any insight!

My manager is not approving claim for keyboard and mouse since last month and there is not STERP Opt. Available for it what to do?

I was recently laid off but was only with the company for 3 months. I feel like I gained a lot and was wondering if it looks bad on my resume to add even though I was there for a short time.

So… I’ve been in sales going on 5 years and I know I want to be in management eventually. My problem is my current company is extremely flat and rather small. I’ve taken on more and more responsibility but don’t see a direct path to management any time soon… I have received offers for manager/director of biz dev, however, I want to be fully prepared for these roles if I do decide to pursue them… what are some sales op/sales management trainings I should look into?

Well this was productive

Health, wellness and fitness companies you’d recommend working for (not consulting)? I’m looking for an exit. New SM.

I have received offer from JPMC for 602 role - Software Engineer. How much can i ask for? Also, does JPMC also offer Stock options or RSU?

Our 5 month old started daycare about 5 weeks ago. We’ve already had to keep her home for 2.5 of those 5 weeks due to catching various illnesses (croup, rsv, brinchiolitis, etc). Both my wife and I have been sick most of that time as well (gotten it from the baby). Wife is thinking we get a full time nanny for the next 4 months to help the baby build antibodies. Cost aside, is this feasible / worthwhile to go thru the effort / finding the right fit, only for 4 months?

Anybody else feel soft since transitioning?

Not worse. Just…soft

Anyone interested in going to Sofi Tukker on Dec. 16? The date changed and now I have an extra ticket ($40)
