Looking at revamping our salary continuation policy for short term dsbl. Any recommendations? What we have now is too much I think, up to 26 weeks at 100% salary for 10+ years tenure.

Just curious, how did you find to the conclusion that 26 weeks was too much for tenured employees (10+years)? What percentage of your employees fall within this category?

Every time I relay our STD policy to our insurance brokers, various carriers, etc., they’re always surprised and say it’s very generous to offer 100% of salary for 6 months. The insurance brokers ask “why would they come back before the 6 months?” The percentage of employees who have been there 10+ years is at least 50%.

Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks

Hello fellow HR pros! I really need your opinions on HR certifications. I am deciding between PHR and SHRM-cp. I have read just about all there is online comparing the two and can not decide. My heart is telling me PHR, my mother in law (an HRBP) is telling me to go with SHRM, as it’s more widely recognized, more established and a larger network in general. I work for a 350~ company who is growing rapidly through M&A. Passions/interests are compliance, strategic vision, M&A, branding and culture
