Good quality cast iron pan. Good knives

like

Or a timeless beautiful Dutch oven. Something she can use for emyears to come to make Sunday pot roast

like

A solid cutting board

like

good call!

Cannot stress good knives enough!

Not a product but if she is starting, I would recommend she check out basically from Bon Appetit. I cook their recipes often and find them really easy to follow and make. The ingredients are easily accessible (for the most part).

like

Oh I just made strawberry shortcake a few weeks ago using the Bon Appetit recipe! Speak of the devil.

like

It's a gift, so get her a personalized cutting board (bamboo/ wooden). It's classy and usable every day :)

like

Pampered Chef stones. I have flat stones, casserole stones, loaf stones. We used all of them often.

like

A Dutch oven

like

Food processor. A stainless steel ladle. Garlic press. Good knives. Good quality slotted spoon. Tongs.

like

Microplane. A little zest makes any dish better.

like

Depending on your budget:

- Victorinox kinfe (reasonably priced and high quality, recommended by America's Test Kitchen)

- Sous Vide (honestly a cheat code for cooking, I love mine and find excuses to use it)

- Quality pots and pans (All-clad is great, but Cuisinart makes some that are of comparable quality but much cheaper)

Air fryer

nice! thanks!!

like

thanks everyone for the awesome ideas!!

Anova sous vide. Life changing!

Hello! I have a two part question: 1) is it worth it to obtain an SHRM specialty credential if I don’t have the broader SHRM certification? 2) has anyone gotten the People Analytics or Talent Acquistion credential? If so, how valuable was it from a learning perspective? Do you feel it significantly contributed to your knowledge in either area? Thank you!

Hi fishes!

My employer noted that they are working on putting an agreement together for employees who they sponsor green cards for, that essentially says they are responsible for *all legal fees during the process if the employee leaves before their 3 year mark*.

This is not something I signed or was even notified about when I joined.

What are my options? If you’ve experienced something similar, how did you respond to such a situation?

What I've found helpful for my mental health after making a mistake: I add it to my mistakes checklist. Once in a while, I categorize the mistakes into types (typo? Not asking a well thought out question?) and then write down solutions for each type of mistake. I review the mistakes checklist before turning in an important assignment or preparing for a meeting. That way I'm more of in a growth mindset rather than dwelling in the past.
