@OP: So, I can't speak for every R/GA office, but the way New York works is kind of interesting (which is why I asked). We split teams, not only by groups and clients, but also by higher-level disciplines. Namely, campaign and systematic. Both can work within a single client and even tackle the same brief, but systematic digital work focuses on site and product development, user experiences, interface design, and new ways to look at them. Campaign is, well, campaign, so that's where teams solve more concept-driven work and where your background in social and content creation would come into play. But we do take a digital-first approach to most things, even traditional advertising.
I'd recommend looking into R/GA because you can maneuver around (a lot) and have the best of both worlds, when the opportunities are there. Plus we have Ventures that's very strategically-driven. I'd also look at AKQA (a lot of people swap between the two, myself included), Huge (if you like site work), and even smaller shops like First Born and Work & Co, which both do fucking phenomenal digital.
@RGA1: thank you for that amazingly thoughtful answer. Going to keep all of that in the back of my mind.

MD1, OP here, I'm not in media buying. More creative strategy
Hey from R/GA! What kind of "digital, creative challenges" were you thinking about, OP?
@RGA1: grown to love content strategy as it pertains to creating online experiences (websites, videos, etc). Cut my teeth on social media the first few years of my career so I have experience to that end.
AKQA?
H&S, Essence, or Kepler
Of course! Best of luck with your search, OP!
