Looking for a new CPA for tax prep. My last two have retired after one year so looking for someone to have a real relationship with. Not interested in an H&R Block situation. We really need someone to help as an advisor for tax planning as well as annual prep.

I’ve always avoided annuities but think this one from NY Life is interesting. It’s called a Variable Investment Fund and you can add an Investment Preservation Rider for a fee. The IPR guarantees your investment return will at least be the cash you put in.

Typical portfolio returns about 7.5% after all fees. The commission fee is 2%.

So you are attenuating some upside and paying a pretty hefty fee, but you are insuring agains the downside.
