Vacation? In Naperville? Have you heard of Branson MO at least?

likefunny

My reaction to this question: What is this? A vacation for ants??? The destination has to be…at least…three times as far as this.

funny

At least spring for Middletown, OH.

If there is a good chunk of family coming and your house/apt cant accomodate everyone it makes sense... or if you and a few are visiting people out in the burbs for thanksgiving and trying to avoid getting back to the city late it makes sense...

There’s a Hotel Indigo in Downtown Naperville. I know it’s not a VRBO, but I bet you can get a room pretty easily. It’s walking distance to all the bars, but it will be a 5-10 minute drive to the nearest dispensary.

funny

I live in Naperville. Why tf would you vacation here. Go to lake Zurich, door county, Indiana dunes, or Michigan

like

Who’s going on vacation to Naperville?

Reminiscing… I used to love the holidays because it was such a festive, flirty season living in NYC with all out office parties and then vacation time when I’d fly to Europe or wherever. Bu now it’s become so stressful as a working mom making sure all the presents are bought (kids, “Santa”, teachers), that Elf does something cute every night, researching fun holiday events for the kids, kids getting sick every other day, work deadlines all in the middle of it…I need some holiday magic for me 😭

How much PTO do you typically take in a year? I've only been taking about 1.5-2 weeks and I'm starting to feel burnt out, but it doesn't seem like anyone on my team takes more!

I’m currently at a boutique agency where it’s just me and my boss doing RM for about 200+ people. I have been there for almost a year and have implemented some new processes that are starting to help streamline the process. I currently make $85K. Is this an appropriate salary for my level? I am being approached for RM roles at consulting firms and other agencies. I like the idea of building something here but would also like better benefits (more vacation, better mat leave).

Do they verify military duty dates, or can I just enter military PTO when needed. Sometimes dates change or I want to add a day prior for travel or something. Do they need to see published orders dates for military PTO?

Considering a move to NTT Data in a healthcare consulting role. Mixed reviews in the bowls. Major concerns are bench policy, staff aug roles, 2 week PTO, and high turnover due to job dissatisfaction. Recruiter and mgr had great things to say around growth and opportunity, which doesn’t align with feedback from the bowls or Glassdoor.

I recently accepted a new job offer a few weeks ago and start soon. It's not a well known company. It's a debt collector and is remote. I can work anywhere in the country. I recently got a job offer from JPMorgan as well and it is also remote, but I have to go wherever a hub and can visit family with vacation. Both companies pay almost the same - JPMorgan pays slightly more. I'm torn between the 2. The other company has a better title Senior InfoSec Analyst. JP's is Cyber Engineer. Any advice?

How do your firms do payroll? This is like the 5th time in 26 months that paychecks weren’t timely deposited. Allegedly, the boss did everything right and this is something in the payroll company. But his stuff is getting crazy and everyone is out on PTO, I’m kinda like: meet minimum ethical obligations and no more. Once or twice, I understand. But this is becoming regular.

How much should I charge a friend to watch 4 dogs at their home over Christmas weekend (2 nights)? The dogs don't have any special needs or medications. I've dog sat for other people in the past but always for free. I also have had dogs of my own for most of my life. I want to start charging people for my services but also want to be reasonable since this is a friend and don't plan to charge a holiday fee. We live in St. Louis. Would $40 per day/night be reasonable?

Are there any firms out there that actually let you take all your PTO? I hate that we have to make up our PTO to meet utilization targets. Been on a capped 40-hour project for the last two years and it’s had a terrible effect on my utilization.

Plus, any firms that don’t require more working for free (like all of our BS firm contributions here at D)?

What holiday party did you get?
Anyone living close to an office, got a holiday party with food and drinks, and the venue started open for them until around midnight. Our remote workers got a one hour party w a DJ and trivia that let you win gift cards. Yeah it was nice to win a gift card but I found it lame in comparison to hanging out with my team in real life.

So HR should be capable enough to update me whatever the organization decided for my application instead of making me fool. I was trying to follow up from 6 October.
