If your old plan wasn’t horrible, you can keep it here. Otherwise, you could roll it into your new plan. The problem with rolling into a traditional IRA is it’ll complicate the back door IRA. Check if the mega back door goes to an IRA or stays in your 401k (depends on plan rules). If you have both options available, it’s mostly personal preference.

Agreed. I believe the mega back door stays in 401k after-tax and can be rolled directly to my Roth IRA.

Similar question - if I am starting a new job soon that now surpasses $130k in salary, can I move funds from Roth IRA into Roth 401k, without penalty and keep contributing up to $19,500? Or does this require backdoor?

Philosophical question (not trying to be political, just a genuine question I’ve been grappling with): do you think being pro-choice and pro-vax mandate are logically inconsistent? Both are sincere views of mine, but upon further reflection I haven’t been able to think of a way one position could be completely defended without undermining the other. Goes the other way for pro life/against vax mandates as well. The fact is, they just feel different to me, but I’m not sure why. Thoughts?

Hi! I have a few questions on the backdoor Roth in which I’ve done a bit of research online. When it comes tax time, will my 401k vendor (Merrill) give me the correct documents? I’ve just used turbo tax in the past but am worried of any documents I may be missing to adjust any tax. Also- when does the pro-rata rule come into play? I’m just nervous in the entire process as this is my first year doing this. TIA!!
