Bain/BCG can you let us know your paternity leave, adoption and surrogacy benefits? Mckinsey falls behind most tech companies and believe we lag against Bain/BCG. Mckinsey has 11 weeks paid paternity leave (expanded from 8 weeks) with 2-4 weeks additional leave for adoption/surrogacy. Additionally we get 10K taxable benefit for surrogacy /adoption.Boston Consulting Group Bain & Company

Does your SO bring in the remaining difference in salary if you chose option 2?
Have you been continuously supporting the military already? Or is the offer what's making you consider (like a already-have-been vs a would-be-nice-to kind of thing)?
Option 1 seems to work more in your favor in terms of checking all your boxes:
Industry ✔️
Fashion ✔️
Staying in the field ✔️
100k by 30 ✔️
Lifestyle, goals, family first ✔️
From what I'm reading, joining the global shoe company and wanting to stay in the ready-to-wear world sounds like it's the next best step based on your career history.

I have not read all of the responses. However as an Army Vet, go with the private sector for now, have fun, get the experience, make some money and optimize the growth opportunities. When you are ready to slow down, revisit the government sector. We are a slow burn. We are not going anywhere any time soon.
(Continued from post) I am conflicted because I have only really been interested in the job at the shoe company. I love fashion and want to stay in the ready-to-wear world. I also made a goal for myself to make 100k salary by the time I’m 30 and this job would get me there. On the other hand, I love and support our military and love the idea of being able to support them through my job. The only thing is that this would be a government job so pay is graded and would not put me on track to meet my goal. My heart pulls toward the government job but my lifestyle, goals, and desire to make enough money to provide for my family and be able to travel pulls me towards the shoe job. Any advice would be SO appreciated.
Govt, plus it offers benefits right? But, if fashion is what makes you happy—idk.
Great benefits!

It really depends on the stage you’re in … at one time, I would’ve picked salary.. but with a child, I prefer flexibility with WFH. And a pension is hard to come by, so that would be another lucrative plus for the government job.
Pension is a great benefit, but USG gov jobs are infamous for being “clock in clock out” types. And room for growth comes with seniority, not skill, so keep that in mind. As someone in SCM, I’d go with the first offer as that experience will open up a lot more opportunities
