Looking for advice on the GMAT. I am struggling overall and feeling a bit down thinking that I may never be able to do well and/or get into a good school. Never been a strong test taker, english is a second language, and suffering from slight ADD. I find myself spending too much time re-reading passages, unclear what the questions are asking for, and never seem to ‘get’ sentence structure/grammar questions. I’ve picked up a book, but even reading the solutions, I struggle to comprehend. 😕

What's your UG? I come from a school with zero pedigree and am starting to worry that that is an automatic disqualifier despite 3.75 GPA and 329 GRE

Struggling with verbal more so than quant?

Yes, always. 🤦‍♂️

I’m a tutor, feel free to dm me

I went to a medium sized liberal arts school (i.e., no pedigree outside of NE) and studied Economics. I also got my Masters degree in Econ at a top university (recognized around the world) and got in because they didn’t require a GRE.

To your point regarding automatic disqualified, part of the reason i went to grad school was because of the name, but still understood it was a MS not an MBA (i.e., debatably still worthless in business)

OP,
I was in your shoes till last month. Not a great test taker, ADD, not a native English speaker. It took me a long time to prepare but eventually reached near my target. I wanted a 700 but settled with a 670. My advice would be to remain patient and study well. If you’re not able to understand one book/resource, try a different one. Every book is available online for free.
For RC, try to slowly read and pen down the main points in shortcuts. This is not for reference but it will make you to understand each paragraph. It helped me a lot. I took 2-3 mins for short essays and 3-4 minutes for long essays to read, but I could answer the questions in less than 60 seconds. In total took only 6-9 mins per essay

For SC- It is all about seven rules, you can find it everywhere. Understand the rules and apply it to every question. Then look for the meaning, it gets easier.
I started at v18 and ended up at v31, not a great score for everyone but it was good for me.

This is extremely helpful and provides me hope, so thank you.

One key selling point, as they are trying to offer is the opportunity to work one day a week to use for things like training, acquiring certifications or building applications that you are interested in.

This sounds amazing. I don't get that at my current job. So, is this too good to be true? I would like your opinion on this.
