Found a most enlightening work on decolonial history with tons of TIL moments especially about Anti Colonial movements in Egypt, China, Japan and course India in the 19th and 20th centuries. Most histories this period often adopt a Euro-centric lens but this book flips it and tells the stories of these turbulent times from the vantage point of the pioneering Asian leaders like Tagore, Al Afghani, Kang Youwei etc. Lovers of Asian history would surely appreciate this book
Any good leadership books?
I'm looking for recommendations on inspirational content for women leaders. I follow TEDWomen, many podcasts, and the women's conference among other sources. Please add any speakers, books, or events that you may have come across!
Just wanted to share fantastic leadership book my executive coach just released. It’s great! Clear, concise and an easy read. And no I don’t anything for recommending it, it’s genuine! (The e-reader version is only $0.99) Spark Brilliance: How the Science of Positive Psychology Will Ignite, Engage, and Transform Your Team https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09SNLCW7Q/ref=cm_sw_r_awdo_F3M21RCQ9KTGGQDMRVA7

I’ve hit an absolute brick wall when it comes to finding for a new job. I’ve had almost a dozen interviews that lead nowhere and been ghosted by a ton of recruiters. Would anyone be available to look over my book and give me some advice? 🙏
Best way to develop your leadership skills for the healthcare field? Or books/resources you would recommend?
Looking for recommendations on a good book/resource on how to manage people, especially when you’re managing teams to achieve tight deadlines and also overall leadership for those teams. Currently on a project with tight regulatory deadlines and feel like I’m struggling to push people without pissing them off. Great learning curve for me and a good read seems timely. TIA!
- fairly decent place to work (from someone who worked with the Vancouver and San Jose offices). never met a blue badger (permanent employee) who had awful things to say.
- Ashley Goodall (their SVP, Methods & Intelligence) co-authored a brilliant book on leadership and people management called “Nine Lies About Work” that makes me believe they can be an awesome place to work
- red badgers had low morale since they’re contract workers and can be terminated at any time
Any books to recommend regarding leadership? I really like David chang’s memoir and Can see it being applied in my own life even as a consultant.
Does anyone have any books recommendations on personal or career development? Anything that helped shaped you for a leadership position down the line? Thanks!
Anyone else on projects where business class travel is in policy based on travel time but leadership asks you to book economy?
I hear a lot about stress and lifestyle on this forum, which may lead to health issues and short life. National Geographic sponsored a study and books, The Blue Zone, which helped me a lot.
Best books on leadership and sales skills?
Ladies, need some advice. I am in Scrum Master role for tech team that is more senior engineers and architects. Feeling very out of the loop as I am not involved in all the discussions and then asked for progress on items from leaders and that am I not aware of..
the team gets Ad hoc requests so new items come up after that stand up and SM/ M will ping folks directly. Feeling like I have become an assistant who updates tickets and books meetings..
I'm taking a senior role as a Strategy Lead for a global pharmaceutical company.
I'm keen to brush up on my strategy knowledge in addition to strategy delivery experience that I have. Any ideas where I should be looking? Books? Trainings? Materials?
Do you feel KPMG is putting people at risk encouraging to go back to the office? It’s not mandatory yet but I can see leadership promoting/expecting and those following would eventually fall in their good books. How hard is it to understand that pandemic is not over by any means?
Can anyone give me some feedback on my portfolio/website? I’m in the process of looking for another job and would like to hear what other professionals have to say.
Welcome fellow Korean consultants!

Consistently billing 190-200 hours per month but being told it's not enough. Firm average is about 165 but my group expects more of us. Anyone have tips for billing more/more efficiently? 200 feels like a struggle- not sure how people hit 250+. 2nd year lit associate if that helps!
Okay ladies, I need some advice on how to proceed an honestly a bit pissed off at this as it just happened.. I work at a tech company (not BU) and was recently asked to look into enhancing our marketing webinars. We got a new CRO who’s background is impressive in that space and was excited to learn from him (more in comments)
Need suggestions on giving notice. I've been at my small firm for almost 3 years, and I've expressed interest in making partner in the past. However, due to remote jobs opening up, I'm finding a lot of new possibilities for something I'm more interested. Would not be surprised if I had 2-4 offers within the next 2 weeks. I don't want to leave my old firm over staffed as they are extremely reliant on me. I will also definitely run into them again as I live in pretty small city. How do I handle?
Looking to connect with people who have something positive to say. I can't be around negative people. It's just been constant complaining about not being paid enough and having to work long hours. I need my calm app more to relax.
Additional Posts in Women in Advertising
Being a woman in the workforce is difficult enough when you have to prove 24/7 you are capable and intelligent to be given any job worth having. In advertising, I feel like there’s no exception. I see many women in advertising being given the unfavorable marketing roles such as running organic social media, managing events and other PR related duties. Whereas males are given more strategic based roles where they play a huge part in decision making. Is this true based on your experience?
Have any moms out there explored the ‘expanded family and medical leave’ as part of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA). I am considering it under qualification 5 related to childcare due to covid-related closures. Just curious what folks have learned and if anyone is using it.
Just found out my SAD is leaving & their replacement (an AD) is coming in with the same experience level as me, and is four years younger. I will be reporting into them directly. I don’t want to sound like my ego is taking over, but I’m worried about how this will stunt my growth on the account I’m on.
Has anyone been through anything similar and if so, do you have any helpful tips on how to navigate this?
Networking being obvious, where are you finding your best job leads? Not recruiter or LinkedIn.
If there are any sisters out there willing to look at a copywriters website and provide some constructive feedback... this girl would be so thankful🤘🏼

As a newbie to the industry (1.5 years out of college with ~2 years at my agency), how do I know if I’m being underpaid for my work? Am I just naive to think I should be making more than $45K? Does it ever get better? Lol
Schools and daycare closed for snow day. Working from home with a two year old. Which is nearly impossible. Whatever happened to actual snow days? How do you all juggle it?

I missed my period so I took a pregnancy test and I got a positive. Based on my first day of my last period, I'm at 5ish weeks. I haven't gone to the obgyn get. My appointment is in 3 weeks. I had some tender breasts and some gas but they all went away and I no longer have any symptoms. I found out about missed miscarriage and now I'm freaking out!!! Is it normal to have absolutely zero symptoms?!

This isn't really ad related, but my husband is a musician and one of the guys he tours with cheats on his gf, like a lot, while they're on the road. I've met his gf once, the 4 of us had dinner...
Had my review which was absolutely glowing. (Peer reviews) There are things to improve upon which are mostly about my character and not my work. I can be inflexible, controlling, dismissive, it says. I am self aware to notice moments of tension at work but I often see them as part of creating the best work possible. If I was a man if I would receive this same criticism? If there is any advice on dealing with this kind of criticism or how to get your way without seeming inflexible I’ll take it.
If you understand Spanish, this commercial is a must-see. A great example of Story Doing.

Managers - are you seeing a talent drain? Trying to hire (London) but seeing hardly any good candidates or resumes. Any tips? do I need to throw ££ at this?
Hey y’all. I am a recent grad and the job search process has been so discouraging and upsetting for me. When I graduated I thought I had more experience than others but I guess I was wrong. I am looking to go into content creation, copy writing, or art directing- really just the creative side of marketing. I have a portfolio and I thought I had potential but it feels like no one is willing to give me a chance. I feel like I’ve tried everything and I don’t know what to do now.
