As a mid-level associate, what is an appropriate amount of notice to give your firm when you leave? I’m running a couple deals right now and do not want to leave my team in a bind...so 2 weeks seems far too short. That said, I also want to take some actual time off before starting a new role. Our experiences, our opinion, our understanding of the human condition, this is what makes up, on average, 14 hours a day of our life. We entered the workforce to work, contribute and to feel like we made a mark in the place we chose to spend more than half our life. The best thing that can be done is to value our people and the thoughts they have.

This is off topic for the bowl. I live in a walk up in Chicago, no bellman, but there is a buzzer (no unit number or names are on it) and any unit can buzz someone in from inside their unit. Units are often generous and will buzz someone in knowing they are here for someone. On a few occasions, I’ve had people knocking on my door but didn’t answer because I didn’t buzz anyone in and wasn’t expecting anyone. I find the online process dehumanizing and filled with toxic moments like gaslighting, being ignored etc.
