Mom hack: Black contractor bags taped with blue painters tape. Classy? No. Efficient? Yes.

We use a travel blackout curtain and plain black paper. Does the job.

We have one set pbkids that work great and another from target kids brand - cloud island? That are much cheaper and work just as well

Spring for nicer rods for sure because the black out curtains are heavier

I have them from PBK. They work! Ours don’t block everything out around the edges, but I think that’s due to the way we set up the curtain hangers. Even so they seem to work fine.

I got mine from amazon ... nursery has plain navy blue and soon to be toddler’s room has stars and moons to make his room with airplanes

Can you please share the link?

I have PB regular blackout and they work great I’m sure the kids are very similar

I have a pair of white pottery barn linen curtains (Emery style I think its called) and they don’t fully black out the room. I’d go to the store with a decent flashlight and see if the flashlight shines through. It might be different for the darker fabrics than for the white. The level of darkness is fine for adults but not great if i needed to get a kid to nap during the day. If I had kids, I’d keep the curtains ( like them) and add a rolling shade behind to give another layer of light filtration.

Thank you! Yes, I want the white ones too that’s why I was concerned. Will make a trip to the store

Work great

JCPenny black out curtains are cheap and work great for my toddler. Light Grey

Target Pillowfort black out curtains are just as good. I have both in my house right now and wish I hadn’t spent the $$ on the Pottery Barn ones

We have the pink linen ones from PB and we were just talking about this the other day! I can’t imagine not having them because now it’s summer and my 20mo room faces the setting sun. It’s so bright in her room at bedtime! She does fine with it because she’s used to it. I don’t know if darker color curtains would do better, but just letting you know they make a huge difference but I wouldn’t describe it as black out

The ones we got at target work great

We had pottery barn blackout curtains in our son’s room and our room. They were great. Smith & Noble also has lots of great blackout shade and curtain options.

I’m curious to hear from people at other firms what is offered in terms of part time work or alternative work options for people that don’t really care about making partner and might want to work part time. I just had my second child and want to ask to come back from maternity leave on a part time basis but our firm doesn’t seem to have anything in place right now. If your firm offers this, what’s the billable requirement, how much of a pay cut is it, and do you still get benefits? Thanks!

How do you all handle tantrums from your toddler during dinner? We finally made it out to have a socially distanced dinner with a female friend of my husband. My toddler started getting really fussy during dinner and my spouse continued his conversation -not wanting to leave. I took the baby on a brief walk but that wasn’t really helping. Spouse still did not want to cut dinner short (we were already on dessert) and he kept his conversation going. I sat down and baby is grabbing plates (cont)

At what age do you stop taking a bath with your child? My 3 year old & I were in the bath together and suddenly he reached out to my chest and said “mumma, your lungs are outside, mine are inside my body” I was so embarrassed! I told him that those were my breasts and that grown ups have slightly different body parts. I normally take a quick shower before him and sit in the tub with him, as that’s our bonding time. I was wearing underpants so thankfully he didn’t notice my non-existant penis
