Looking for career advice… I am in my 2nd year at Accenture. I loved the idea of consulting for travel which I’ve never gotten to experience. Without that, the projects I find are slow and it’s hard to get excited about the work that we’re doing, but it’s consistent and comfy.

I am probably the definition of complacent, so I feel like I’m wasting my time since I’m only 24, but I can’t decide what else would excite me.

When you were in my shoes, did you leave? Stay? Any regrets or advice?

While I enjoyed the travel for a bit, it burns you out hard and your WLB is much harder to maintain. It’s one of those things that sounds more glamorous than it is, in my opinion. I think what’s got me (and many others) feeling “meh” is being stuck at home in a never ending remote role you didn’t sign up for. I want a hybrid model where I can have some in person human interaction but can stay remote some days. That’s what I miss, not the travel. I’m leaving consulting for many reasons but not needing to travel often is a huge one.

Leave. Even pre-covid, traveling was hard at ACN unless you knew the right people, so if you’re staying for that, it’s not worth it.

There’s a whole thread below with a very similar question. Follow that advice there. Good luck!!

I’m 25, left consulting for tech about a month ago and have never been happier - I felt a lot of the good of consulting disappeared when covid started and it also exasperated a lot of the things I didn’t like about it. I’m a firm believer in the idea that I don’t need to be doing something in particular, as long as I’m in a good environment that’s what matters most to me

Good evening all. I’m joining AAI later this month and I need to check how much travel is happening. I was told a certain amount is expected during interviews, but how much is the practice actually traveling? Fully aware it’s client/project dependent, so don’t feel the need to reiterate that :). TIA.
