Just got another rejection... Is exiting to FAANG or MB really this hard? Trying to go tech.. or mbb, but not getting anywhere. I have 2 masters (mba, ms) from top schools, been in consulting for over 10 years, I am confident that I know my stuff well..but still I keep getting rejected. Interviewed with Google, Amazon, Cisco, McKinsey, and a few others and every-time there is something that is not a match... are the hiring managers looking for like 100% match? That will never happen!!!
Looking to eventually break into FAANG PM and wondering if I need to pursue an MBA first. Non-target undergrad, but have SWE and product experience from current and previous roles. What’s the best path forward? Any advice would be hugely appreciated!
I need some inputs on if I should pursue a MBA. Goal that I would use MBA for is getting into VC, only a undergrad internship in that space, or doing a search fund and like micro PE. I would consider corporate VC too. Alternative is to focus on meetups to meet founders, getting a better job and hit the accredited investor status so I can invest with angels. Undergrad was a top business school, so I feel strong with finance and other functions.
Why does McKinsey hire at Associate level post MBA. Bain and BCG associates don’t have MBA.
Anyone at Apple or Facebook willing to have a chat? I am currently pursuing an MBA and these are my two dream companies for the summer internship but I don’t know anyone working there
I don't get the point of getting an MBA. I feel like there's nothing b-school can teach you that you can't teach yourself... and networking is feasible without the help of an overpriced university.
Hi Tax Bowlers, I'm an experienced associate (2yrs) in a Big 4 Transfer Pricing division. I have reached a point in my career where I am considering taking up a professional certification. Several colleagues recommended taking up either ACCA or CFA, however, I see little connection between these certifications and the work that I am currently doing, and what I plan to do in the future. What would you guys suggest? Would it be detrimental to my career if I did not take up any certifications?
With traditional education being challenged by Coursera, Udemy, EDX and other MOOC's, do certifications like CISSP, CISM, PMP, CCNA.. still hold weight in today's world? What about 3-5yrs frm now?
Quite disappointed that Bain ignored “LGBT” term and instead referred it as “special group” during a Greater China pre-MBA info session, when asked whether Bain has LGBT diversity program. Bain changed its logo into Pride on LinkedIn but can’t recognize LGBT? I know it’s China, but expect Bain to be more supportive across the firm globally.
MBAs and Strategy Consultants: If you were to do it all over, what is the most efficient way to become a “master” at case interviewing? Read each MBA program’s consulting club’s case books? Then practice? If yes, is there any specific order/sequence of case types to prepare for?
All else equal, what’s better for MBA story and application: M&A execution consulting or pure strategy consulting?
What’s the deal with headhunters? After finishing my MBA I’ll be at Strategy&. Do I reach out to them? Do they reach out to me? What are the legit firms?
Let’s discuss gender pay gaps by assessing our own discrepancies. I’ll start. I’m a 29 YO female, almost 6 years experience total, at a 115 base, guaranteed 126 if I meet utilization, with potential for more bonus. No target school or MBA. I’m happy with where I’m at, but are my male counterparts on here making more or relatively the same?
Hi, does one need to know how to swim to do scuba diving? I can float and swim on shallow side but not in deep end but I really want to get a beginners diving certification. Please advice
Is it worth throwing my hat in the ring to be an ABM with 1.5 year agency experience and no MBA? Really want to try something new while I’m moldable, and be compensated properly for my drive and abilities.
Hi everyone, for those of you who are deciding to pursue an MBA or already have one, what lead you to that decision? Currently debating if it’s the route I should go at this time in my career and if it would open any doors down the road. Really just don’t know what I don’t know at the moment. For reference, I have 3 YOE, a non MBA masters, and just paid off my student loans. Appreciate any insight.
Is the only way out an MBA?? I need to get out bit dont know how. ——- I think I have very transferrable skills to many job functions but I feel like the job market will see me as an IT professional forever now that I spent 3 years working in data analytics. I am done. I just don’t want to keep talking about data, ETL, automation, reports, triggers, AI, governance, security, warehouses anymore. I hate all of these words now. How to get a Strategy, Ops or PM exit from where I am at?
At 27, 1st year sr associate, non mba masters and earning 105k. High col city. Underpaid? What are thr prospects of hitting 200k in a few years. Should I go get an mba?
GT MBA (Management of Technology - similar to an MIS) worth it for a tech consultant that wants to stay tech focused, but didn't get a Stanford/MIT worthy GMAT?
Planning to apply to schools in Fall ‘21, but I know I want to work at some sort of healthcare startup post-mba focused on product and business growth. I know this is extremely vague, but I’d really appreciate any guidance as to where I can get started to explore career opportunities that fall in this realm. TIA.

Anyone know why my credit karma score and my credit score on Amex is different by 80 points? Which one is more accurate? (And is my Amex score impacted by my corporate card)?
I currently work as an APM at a FAANG company but recently received an offer to join an MBB. I’m very excited about the role but didn’t realize I’d need to take a pay cut when I applied (~100k base + ~20k bonus + ~60k equity vs. 90k base + 10-20k bonus). Considering that I currently work 40-60 hours/week, I’ll be making significantly less per hour at the MBB. I’m very interested in the opportunity but also don’t want to make a poor financial decision early in my career. Thank you for your time!
Can we not call it TrumpCare or ObamaCare and just call it the Affordable Care Act like it should have been from day one. Stop playing politics with healthcare. People die from this BS.
Is it still a bad time to move to NYC? Would be WFH but wanting to get it over with and get out of parent’s house. Would be coming from FL so assuming it’ll be quite a shock moving there
