Looking for different perspectives - would you leave a job that’s 90% work from home, easy work, great coworkers but no challenge, no growth or promotion in sight for a job with a massive company ($90B annual revenue), fully on site, will be challenging for 30k more in a city you want to live in?

For sure, it’s the fear of losing my freedom for more money and more knowledge. Right now I can go work from wherever in the world which would not be possible with the new job. So weighing out my options of freedom vs money.

Why not trying new things is fun

I did this. I was working an easy job with all the freedom I could have wanted but I was bored. So I left it for a more challenging role. The opportunity for growth is there too so I’m happy with my decision.

No problem!

No, not at this time. If your job is secure, wait for another year. Next year will be tough with lots if uncertainties

like

I did this half a year ago and honestly regret it. I came from feeling secured, comfortable and relaxed to absolute opposite. I had plenty of free time at my previous job, it was easy and no micromanagement and I was my own boss (perfect comfort zone). Salary and benefits were just ok but not bad considering the current market. My salary skyrocketed, but I don’t feel happy anymore. I have more work, much more responsibilities, much more stress, chaotic environment, and the feeling of insecurity does not leave me every day. I understand that Im making more money, learning new things, but I think people should perceive comfort and happiness rather than being driven by “challenges”.

like

I feel your frustration. It seems like you have nothing to loose really other than moving out from your comfort zone. My case was different, I had higher tier managerial position, well paid compared to other professions (even though my salary was already 6 figures, but it was less than similar roles in other companies). My only motivation was money. I just didn’t expect that transition and adapting process would be so difficult for me mentally.
Your case is different. I think you are moving in right direction. Accept an offer and if you will not like it, just stay there for a year, make some new connections, learn new skills and move forward. Who knows, maybe you will like your new job so much that you will no consider to leave.

My partner is quite negative and has a victim mentality. At work he feels he deserves a promotion and is passed over - and complains often. He put an offer in on a house and was outbid - and mentions it at least 3x a week. Just this morning he called and complained that someone got their purple belt in his ju jitsu class even though he goes more often and is more deserving.

I’m trying to listen and not give advice (that makes him irritated) but it’s exhausting to be around such negativity cont

When I asked the HR, he told me to accept it for now and bring the counter offer letter so they can revise offer letter.

But now they declined. Weird.

Sharing some thoughts I’ve had lately:

The end of my suffering occurs with the death of my ego. I am reborn when I surrender to life exactly as it is, right at this moment (and it’s always “this moment”). I can begin to grow when I either accept life as it is, or I change my life because I can’t accept it. The better I become at surrender and acceptance, the more I experience serenity. After a long enough time I realize I’ve had a spiritual awakening. Now I am peace / joy / love.

Currently have a 5th grade girl who is struggling with classroom behaviors and choices. When questioned, she says she wants to be a boy, but her parents won’t allow it. Obviously, she is struggling with more than making good choices at school. Her parents are very kind and appreciative of all we do for their child, but they are also clearly struggling with this. Anyone ever been in a similar situation or have some advice on how we can best support the student?

Hi everyone. I started to work in this company (first paid job) one year ago. In this year I performed well, met the goals and gave an impact to whole team from social point of view. I think my current salary is ok, but I am considering asking for a small raise now, after one year has passed. The increase would not change my life but would make me appreciated and valued. Is it too early to ask for a raise or it’s legit? I have a very good relationship with my boss and I don’t want to fuck up.
