Looking for hope - I try to eat healthy generally but I cannot stop the urge to eat something sweet after every meal, so end up eating ice cream/chocolates. I can try and restrict myself for a while, but can’t sustain the restriction behavior forever. Does it get better? Do you stop craving sugar if you stop consuming it?

Hershey’s kisses! 20 calories per kiss :) has helped me curve my sugar cravings

You literally get rid of everything tempting in your house and then you’re SOL when the cravings kick in, so you’ll be forced to eat something healthy (like fruit) if you’re actually still hungry. You will eventually stop craving sugar so much.

I mean, you gotta learn to control yourself and it’s obviously not easy. I also keep raw nuts, dates, and almond butter around. I’m just saying get rid of the junky stuff.

Frozen blueberries eaten one by one. That's my icecream replacement. And it works quite well. Also I stop craving sweets and chocolate after about 2 weeks of not eating any (although cravings decrease after a week significantly). Except for a day or two before my period. Then I want to wat a truckload of chocolate

Yes love frozen fruit!! ( also sometime I microwave them a little but it’s a nice but weird flavor)

Drink a flavored sparking water - coconut LaCroix is my fav Brush your teeth Savor 1 teaspoon of PB /50 cal - measure and savor Recognize the difference between habit, emotional eating and what your body needs (sugar is a learned craving and unless you are foraging and in need of food for survival - sugar is not needed to live). It takes a while to break the sugar cravings but it can and does happen. Hang tough OP - you can do it.

It depends on your relationship with food and your body. There are things out there like Whole 30 that is supposed to help you break your sugar addiction but that can be too restrictive for people. There is the concept of Food Freedom after Whole 30 so I would look that up too. There is also the concept of intuitive eating that is popular. I’d think about if you are doing it out of habit or something deeper

I started eating ripe bananas and pb

You just have to channel the sugar craving elsewhere. Ive started drinking warm water with lemon and honey in the morning and it definitely satisfies my sweet tooth throughout the day

Ugh, I have this problem too. Green tea (with sweetener, sorry not sorry) helps me. Plus I get a nice buzz going which is an appetite suppressant and makes me want sweets less. This post made me want chocolate :( Going to go make a green tea now!! 🤞🏻

Thanks all, very helpful!
