Looking for info on volunteering policies!
Does your company give you time off for volunteering? How much? Is it for company organised volunteering or for self-organised?

My firm asks us to donate our own money/hours to their preferred charity. No time off while volunteering for their charity. Curious what other firms' policies are

We have 1+1+1 policy in place. Donating our time (volunteer), talent (pro bono work), and treasure ($$).

We have flexible PTO (no cap) and encourage volunteering. Prior to flexible PTO, we had a 1:1 match on volunteer hours and PTO.

Each office generally sends out probably one opportunity per month. We also doa 'national day of service' each year where the bulk of the firm volunteers at numerous doffer organizations in each city.

We track volunteer hours and the firm provides some rewards (branded merch, etc) based on total number per year.

Job offer extended but now some red flags… I was extended an offer today with a pay raise and great benefits. It’s in a field that interests me more but, now some red flags have come up. They voided my offer after asking for time off way in advance in December of this year & the pay that was discussed on the phone is different from my offer letter. I asked the recruiter to clarify and she said I must’ve not heard her correctly on the phone. I’m not having second thoughts… I was excited.

Employer is telling me that due to some erratic behavior (literally first time I've been told this in 4 years) I cannot receive any PTO this year to "make up for it". Wtf? I don't even get to spend Christmas with the fam…

Looking for a new position to start in Jan 2023. Timing is mainly to account for bonus and end of year vacation time. 7+ YOE federal consulting and another 6 YOE in various IT roles. If you have a position that you are hiring for that has a timeline to start in early 2023, I’m open to talking now and seeing if I can’t firm up an opportunity with a delayed start. Project Management, Data/Analytics, Strategic Planning are my primary experience areas. Remote friendly also a huge plus. Thanks!

Hello, I am a new grad with a doctorate in OT. I just got an offer for a job working at a private school. The offer is 58K with benefits. 15 days PTO. Do you guys think I can negotiate the salary to 70K, which based on my research is the average pay for my level of experience and education? Or is that too much to ask?

What the hell do you get male coworkers for office holiday gifts? They're fine guys and we have a great team but I wouldn't say I know them well enough to pick out individual relevant gifts for each of them. I was thinking like 5ths of whiskey & some chocolate? Or homemade cookies or something? Please give me some good ideas

Is it unethical as realtors working in an office to block chunks of time off for personal reasons? Some of my coworkers stay in their desks for up to 10 hours, but I've taken up the habit of blocking at least 1 hour daily for lunch, breaks, and other issues that may arise. Do you do this as well or do you prefer to work straight through your day?

So i work at this company in coimbatore (india) and we have a very poor work life balance. We have a 6 day working policy and no vacation or sick leaves just 1 day casual leave a month. We usualy had to work around 10 to 12 hrs and no leaves even during govt holidays. How can i make them understand this is killing our personal life. I have already shared a couple of emails to hr and CFO of our company to no avail. Please advice on what should I do next

Any ideas on how to negotiate a delayed start date? I really want it to be Jan. My mental health needs some time off and this company breezed through interviews to offer in 1 week when I was expecting it to take at least a month. I really need some time to recover from burnout.

Being a realtor is not what I expected! I was so excited when I joined being younger, but nowadays it's all work and too little time off. It's a bit frustrating because I'm not sure where to go from here. I've been doing this for 5 years now. Any help on what choice to make? I do not have a backup plan.

How much should I charge a friend to watch 4 dogs at their home over Christmas weekend (2 nights)? The dogs don't have any special needs or medications. I've dog sat for other people in the past but always for free. I also have had dogs of my own for most of my life. I want to start charging people for my services but also want to be reasonable since this is a friend and don't plan to charge a holiday fee. We live in St. Louis. Would $40 per day/night be reasonable?

Quitting before finalizing offers?

I’m at post onsite and negotiation stage at a couple places but it may take another month or 2 due to either hiring freezes or general slow processes.

I want to quit now to go on vacations that I held off during prep. Does it make much difference when I negotiate offers? Like if my upcoming unvested RSU would be (partially) matched, and they find out I quit somehow, is it no longer matched? Other potential snags?

Already burned most of my PTO interviewing.

However a new role in industry might not be as easy either and I'll need to prove myself, where as currently I'm already regarded as a high performer and gained trust.

How should I quit Accenture. Will it affect my future job prospects and I need to show this company in my resume. Will Accenture blacklist me to join in future if quit it.

Other company is aware of this situation and they don't have a problem and they have already considered me.

Result i need to give while I quit.
