My boyfriend and I make 200K combined and live in NJ. We have $1000 in monthly car payments combined. That’s all we owe. Our credit scores are in the 800s. We have 50K to put down on a home. We have done the math and I know we can afford much more but he doesn’t want to buy more than a 400K home. I’m almost positive we can afford 500K and be more than ok. Is a daily 1.5 hour commute (total) worth a more supportive work environment and better benefits?
Thinking of jumping ship after just 6 months in a fully remote position for an in-house, in person job where expectation is 5d/week in person. Commute would be around 90minutes/day in interstate. Better salary, good 401k match, parental leave (20 weeks paid), 4wks PTO, and a very big name for the resume. 3 YOE. But I love the flexibility of remote work, so struggling to decide.

I interviewed at a firm a few months ago and afterwards I was in contact with them and basically they never got the hiring approved from higher up and didn’t end up hiring anyone. Now they have an opening again, is it frowned upon to apply again?

Anyone else really feeling the social isolation this weekend? Normal to ask for a bonus during a mid year review? For context, I work at a small (20ish attorney) law firm in a major market. The firm said this is the first year they are doing mid year reviews for associates. I’m a first year, 9 months into the job.

I had an interview at a law firm and their recruiter wants to talk on a Sunday afternoon. Is this a red flag about company culture and not respecting weekend time? Or are they just in a big hurry and want to get my offer done quickly so they snag me before someone else?
