I’ve had issues since high school, but just formally got diagnosed with ADHD. I’ve always managed to get by okay at work (I’m no super star), but remote meetings have been really difficult for me and I now feel like I’m barely hanging on. Trying meds now, but no benefits yet. Pros and Cons of disclosing the diagnosis to my team, partner, or firm? I’m torn.
Yup, multiple times over my career. Reasons have varied. Sometimes it was an eye on “the long game”, other times it was because I valued other things over just money (e.g., continuing to work with people that had become close friends, strong network that made work life easier, nature of the work itself), and sometimes it just didn’t feel like the right time to introduce more changes/unknowns in my life as I was already managing a lot of changes outside of work. Seems like it worked out in my own particular case, but obviously very personal and context-specific.
$20k, because the second choice had more exposure to leadership and I was a better fit.
It was 5 years ago and I don't regret it.
Turned down 15k more because of commute (from 20’ to 1.5hrs).
Yeap, turned down a 60K (+50K in bonuses) jump in salary a few months ago because I wanted to get out of consulting.
I thought it would be too hard to leave later in my career because of the golden handcuffs if I didn't make a switch now. Moving to a product role in a few weeks for a slight increase in total comp but way happier about my decision and long term outlook on career growth.
Rising Star
Yeah, took a 5k paycut to accept an industry job that had better wlb and was more aligned with what I wanted out of my career.
Rising Star
Yes, turned down about $10k more because of geography
Better work life balance or more aligned with my interests are the two best reasons to turn down more money. It’s a balance though
Yes turned down multiple higher offers (+20k) because they involved moving to high COL cities (NYC, SF).
Early in my career I turned down an offer of $20k more. The role was a BA for a pharma company and location was not downtown. I took $20k less and took a manager role at a bank and wanted to work downtown. Had no regrets as I felt the BA wouldn’t help grow my career and the manager role did. Past couple years I had offers for $30-50k more but declined it due to the role, unrealistic targets and firm.

Appreciate all the insights and feedback everyone!
Is this a WiTCH firm?
Yes it is. Any thoughts/ feedback?
Turned down about 50k in additional TC based on the company, management and overall direction I thought the business was going to take. Made the right decision overall, as the VP was soon let go and constant reorgs could have impacted me as well
Did something similar too. Did not think I had the klout at my level to change how things were and put the structure and rigor this company would need for me and my team to succeed.
