I am about to get a promotion at work and I am hoping to get the title of “Direct of Data Science” title instead of the “Director of Strategy” title I am slated to get. I do data science strategy work at my company but the real reason behind the title ask is so I can have better exit opportunity in tech. I worry if I ask for this title it’ll be obvious it’s for an exit - title doesn’t really matter for internal projects so my chain will likely know I’m looking to exit. Thoughts?
