I work in AI ML team in IQVIA, my team just had layoff many of good colleagues are now gone, I know 4 of people personally who have been laid off, are other teams also seeing layoff in IQVIA

* Safe (can walk around at night) and clean
* Easy access to activities/events for couples (not big on clubbing, bars, etc)
* Easy access to public transit and rest of Chicago (really hate driving)

Classroom student desks for groups vs independent desks with chairs attached. What is better? What do you have? I am looking to write a grant for student desks that can be arranged in groups as opposed to the individual student desks that have the chair attached ( what I currently have). Do you guys have a preference? I teach middle school mod / sev autism class and my students are pretty high functioning but in years past I have had kids knock over the desks when they have behavioral issues.

Life after the classroom... Knowing that I want to retire and focus more on dyslexia, I am interested in your thoughts about creating a 501c3 and/or LLC to support reading for students and adults with dyslexia, parent advocacy, and understanding how to navigate best practices instead of de minimus that is offered by most districts, and legislative actions.

My principals ALWAYS seem to visit my room as soon as I give my student(s) a break from their work or when they’ve finished early everything I had planned. They RARELY come in when I’m actually in the middle of making progress on a lesson. It makes me feel like I have to be defensive & justify why the students aren’t working. Hi SpEd Teachers, is anyone else facing EXTREME staff shortages as a result of state funding? We are not able to meet my students' IEP requirements (not even close) due to not enough paraprofessionals and the district flat out refusing to hire more. I've lost 70+ hrs/week of para hours over the past few years and my students are really suffering. This leaves our district open to lawsuits, but the real problem is the state's education budget. What can we do?? This isn't going to fix itself.

iso: an elementary math curriculum that works remotely! We just switched to eureka and it’s kind of a nightmare from a special ed perspective (but if it’s working for you/your kids share your wisdom!). As a mod/severe teacher, I find it really challenging to find trainings that are useful for my students. Has anyone found any good professional development that is actually for the mod/severe population?

I'm so sick of sitting through hours of training that cant be utilized for my students. It's such a waste of my time and its demoralizing
