PMP certification is definitely one I would pursue first. I didn’t get my Scrum Master until later on in the process of being a PM because my current role paid for everyone to do it.

PMP is definitely what you should pursue first. Find a PM at your workplace to mentor you and give you some advice. Apply for project specialist or associate PM roles and get OJT basically for being a PM. Once you’ve been on enough projects as a PC you should able to start dipping your toes in these other roles.

It seems that a significant majority of MBA applicants coming from consulting are coming from well-known firms (ex. MBB, Big4, Accenture, Kearney, OW, etc.). I have a little over 1 YOE and plan on applying to M7 schools in 2-3 years, but I’m currently at a boutique firm that is not well-known. Is this disadvantageous (i.e. should I try to move to MBB - this is a goal of mine regardless but could also be post-MBA) or alternatively, how do I try to stand out when coming from a small firm?

What's the thought ?

As I prepared to file my notice, the partner of the firm called me and asked me to stay. They’re willing to promote me mid year in December and increase salary next year in August. The current offer I have gives 60% pay increase and Partner still can’t match that offer after promotion. Firm leadership says here I have potential to be a partner in 8 years and talk about all the leadership support I have rn which is fair. Is this one of their tactics to make me stay or should I just leave…

Anyone else struggling to get traction in recruiting? I thought I had a strong resume. Mckinsey EM with distinctive performance and accelerated designation. TMT focus. Worked in finance for 5 years prior to M7 MBA. Engineering from top undergrad. I got rejected from FAANG without even getting a first recruiter call. And I had strong referrals at all of them. Pretty dejected :(
