Looking for some advice... I am up for promotion to senior consultant for end of year (most likely won’t find out results for a while). Do I have a shot at applying to a senior con level position at another firm before I *hopefully* get the promo?

I’ve been with firms for 6 years. I struggle (not that I’m not intellectually capable of doing this job), I just hate the detail oriented nature of this industry. Everything gets scrutinized so carefully and most things I stayed up late for doesn’t matter.

I just got PIP talk and they are pushing me out next year. I’m kinda relieved. I want to leave law completely and be someone on the operation side. Eventually I want to be an COO.

How do I get there from here?

Reviewing a salary offer for a Benefits Manager position in Greensboro, NC industry is retail. Offer made of $95k with 18% bonus. I have 16 YOE, degree in Business, and PHR and Shrm certification. Potential employer has 10k plus employees. I will have two reports and will report directly to the Director of Total Rewards. Any thoughts or advise on offer made? I’m currently in the process of being converted from contractor to permanent. In my initial conversations I was under the impression that I was in a different pay grade and asked for a salary 25k higher than the max allotted for my position. Interviewed with Chicago court 2 weeks ago; they decide mid-August. Interviewed with DC judge last week; hear from him by this Friday. Chicago said if I need an answer before August, they'd try to make a decision about me sooner.
Should I ask Chicago for an answer? Or should I wait until there's an offer from DC judge? Maybe seems better to withdraw before an offer is made rather than ask for time to think about it/turn down DC? What's proper etiquette?

I think I made a faux pas during a discussion with a recruiter when asked what my salary expectations were. Do you consider it ethical that his career counselor is intentially spreading the information to his colleagues and to other consultants from other companies in the project? What can he do about it? Specially that he considers the potential layoff is purely based on the current situation (chargeability was low) and not on his performance (they said that his contribution to BD during his bench time was low)?
