Currently a teacher but looking for a career move. What are jobs that a teacher can move to without having to go back to school? Everyone says don’t leave because the benefits are good but when health, dental, and vision rates are rising constantly and I could do my own retirement plan in a different field I’d argue the benefits aren’t something to keep you in a position any longer.
I have $3,5k in tuition reimbursement that I’d love to use before the year is over. Looking for recommendations on where to use it! Open for spring enrollment as long as I can pay for it this year
Have anyone done contracting negotiations before? I've interviewed for co A & B and co A extended an offer today. The offer does not meet my current salary. Co B's interview structure is 3 rounds and I've finished my 2nd round today. The recruiter mentioned that since I am a contractor my current salary is incomparable as they will provide benefits, etc. Is this true? I have 2 yrs of contracting HR exp from fortunate 500 co’s & OMW to get my SHRM-CP. Appreciate your advice in advance.
What is the senior principal starting salary range Slalom Consulting if you are coming in with consulting experience? What is their 401k policy? And typical new hire signing bonus? Do they have a negotiation pattern?
If I accept an international move to the UK, will I be able to bring along a parent as long as I am willing to be financially responsible for them? Have an old mom who lives with me and don’t want to leave her behind alone (I’m an only child) but also don’t want to let go of a good career opportunity. Willing to buy medical insurance for her if it’s available (she is in her 70’s).

I really want to work in an office again. I like putting stuff on the walls, talking with people, the serendipity of things. I think it benefits the work. Who else is looking forward?
Infosys reached to me today offering a new role… after some research, not interested. PTO: too low (10 days), 401k 3%, Comp. and bonuses seem low from employee feedbacks. Cannot take a role with higher responsibilities and low comp and PTO lol
When are we supposed to submit reimbursement for health benefits? (Gym, treadmill, etc...)
No judgements please :( need advice! I am nearing 30, and have over 100k. I have no idea how to invest! I am maxing my 401K, have a few high profile stocks, and some money in crypto - but on holding pattern on all! How do I invest the rest of my money wisely?
All this inflation talk... Time to move 401k into bonds/stables for capital preservation yet? What's your take?
Looks like market is going down again, lost 2k out of my 401k in a week. Do you guys think we’ll hit the bottom soon?
Is anyone just tired from the end of last year or tired In general? I feel like I’m way more tired than most people. Im thinking perhaps people just aren’t talking about how tired and overworked they are. (And no I’m good health wise just had an annual. Just tired 😂)
I’m taking the next two weeks off and really want to spend the time improving my looks for myself. Like everyone else this year has been tough and I completely stopped just about all beauty/health self care. What are some things you love to do to improve your appearance for yourself? So far I have: 2adays while trying new types of workouts, teeth whitening, at home hair treatments, mani/pedis!
Had my 401k in all VINIX last year, and it served me well. I rebalanced to 20% large cap, 20% mid cap, 20% small cap, 20% Int’l, and 20% bonds. The Int’l diversification is pulling me down significantly. Would you shift that 20% back to large cap or just say it will payoff later to diversify? My IRA is pretty yeah heavy, so trying to be mindful.
Apple Watch owners: why do you have an Apple Watch? What are the benefits/downsides and is it worth it? From what I read, it seems mostly beneficial to track health like a Fitbit?
Applied for a salaried role, passed all interviews and now recruiter is asking me if I’m open to that role as a contractor instead of the original salaried. What are somethings I should ask the recruiter to include in offer letter in terms of comp if they are not going to offer me benefits? Any other pointers?
Health check - as analytics consultants/dat scientists, do you have a seat at the table at your firms? Do your firms see/treat you as first or second class citizens? What changes have you noticed ..
Have an interview for a federal job. Would it be ok to ask if there's an expected timeline for their decision at the end? I really want this position, but I don't want to hold off on other things if it'll take months for them to finalize selection.
Bit the bullet and bought a dyson airwrap. Here’s hoping for less time to look fab on those zoom calls 😅 any tips?
anyone know if diagnosed depression can be considered a short term disability? it's wreaking havoc with everything professionally
Can somebody please explain to me why MBB and other top consulting firms are so adamant that you have an MBA? I majored in accounting, finance, and operations management at a top 10 undergrad business school and then got my masters in information systems from the grad school program. I took multiple MBA courses as electives when getting my masters and it seemed like those classes were very basic and easy. Idk if I would learn anything in an MBA program that I hadn’t already learned in undergrad
Hi fellow USI 🐟 Did anyone recently apply for visa extension, how much time did Seyfarth took to complete the process and receiving the approval. End to end starting with initiation to approval.
Friend didn’t get promoted (actually a friend) and is now trying to switch to another big 4 to get the promo. Ideas of reasons to give for making the switch?
AA flyers, what's your status and EQD to date? BCG, because of your >90min FC policy, you need not apply....
Anyone in PWC management consulting share SM salary? With and without MBA and city tier differences? TIA
Dark lip hair…any long term solutions? Tried laser but it did nothing (might have actually made it worse). Sick of bleaching or using depilatory creams. Open to any ideas!
If you book a period end accrual (D exp, C Accrued), when you reverse the entry the next day. Wouldnt you be booking the expense in the period you got the invoice, not the period the expense occurred?
You join a company in a role you never ever wanted to end up in but your past experience makes you suitable for it. You then get a call from your dream company at a significantly lower salary.
10+ YOE, experienced hire, and up for promotion to SC this year. My current project is straight up analyst work (absolutely no disrespect). I spend my days doing nothing but updating excel sheets, producing reports for slides, and doing extremely boring work (go into 100+ folders/excels and report back on who's completed what). I not only feel like this is BS, but I feel like it's going to screw up my promotion. I've never asked any analyst I have worked with to do this stuff, yet here I am...
If I leave my current company and join Deloitte, will they be willing to wait 5 months so that I don’t have to give back my signing bonus?
Please, don’t call us visa holders ‘resident aliens’ anymore. Call us ‘extra-terrestrial residents’, thank you.
In healthcare consulting and lots of emphasis placed on having clinical experience in this space. Worth it to go to med school, just to come back to consulting?
first client project - I’m the only associate on a team of Managers and seniors and I feel like I keep screwing up even the most minor things. I feel like they all hate me now and not sure how to fix
