Depending on your preferred learning method, either take the class, watch videos, or read and study on your own.
Then take the Manhattan practice tests. However, do not worry about your scores. Their tests are significantly more complicated than the actual GMAT, so you will run out of time often. As an example, I was scoring 630-650 on their exams and got a 750. I will get into how to best benchmark later. Instead, you should focus on learning from these problems as they usually provide you with good shortcuts that will come in useful in the exam.
Next, download the Manhattan prep app for your phone. On the subway ride to work, or while you poop, take practice questions every day on the areas you were weakest in on the Manhattan exams. This will also provide you with good insights.
Now you’re pretty prepared, so you need to benchmark and get into the test taking mood. Download the GMAC (the group that also makes the GMAT) practice exams. Simulate a test taking environment and take about 4 of these. You will score quite close to your actually score on average on these. I hit 740 on average compared to 750 on the actual.
Then, the week prior to the exam, just relax. Don’t take a practice exam, just chill (but don’t drink). Instead eat healthy and lounge around to build up some energy you will need it. The day of the exam review a few flash cards on some problem areas and then go and kick ass.
If you’re scoring over 680 on your practice tests stop taking them and then focus on your problem areas first. Expect to take it twice. Two reasons for that- you may not realize how much you need to study and not do as well as you hoped (work gets in the way, etc... happens all the time) and then because if you do good but not great you can prove to the adcoms that you have it another go and tried to improve. They like seeing people’s progress when they are in a situation to improve.
I got a 680 my first test and a 770 the second time i took it and this was how studied/how it went for me
Spend 75 percent of the time on real and TIMED tests. Practice is key.
Manhattan is good for math. Use Gmac’s actual materials for verbal. Use the Manhattan full practice tests to get a sense of strengths and weaknesses and go from there. Do every math problem in the Manhattan prep “chapters” (books 1-9) and then every Gmac problem you can get your hands on.
Hi all—really appreciate the help. Bit of a status update/advice for those interested. I bought the Manhattan online course (if you google, you can find a 100$ off coupon!) and worked through. Doing about 2 hours a night and 4/day on the weekends, it took ~2 months to get through. I found that I spend far too long on some of the sessions, and probably not enough time on practice questions. But I’m giving myself one month after program completion to purely do practice questions/tests/weaknesses.
My first test before any preparation was a 640, then again at 640, then up to 670. Using the GMAC software today I got a 690. My verbal is there (really has been since day one, testing 85-97%) but math seems to be holding me back (40% to 68% most recent).
I’m taking my first test in 13 days (3/31) and fully expect to take it twice.
Any advice for how to improve math, practice math weaknesses, or in general for these last 2 week and/or after the first test?
You have all been so great!
If anyone has any advice on what has worked for them, or how I should go about doing things or really anything I would greatly appreciate it!

I did manhattan. Definitely helpful. Dont think twice - go for it
I’m currently taking Kaplan in person courses to supplement self study and a practice exam per week. I’ve been really happy with Kaplan and they also allow you to take a practice test at the actual testing center, a great perk no other gmat prep co offers.
