What age and content are you teaching. I have always run my middle school math class on a checking account. Students earn "money" for participating, helping others, ignoring inappropriate behaviors, following class expectations, etc. They also had mandatory fees, and purchases. Ie. Fee for calling out an answer "taking away the education of others", and purchases such as supplies or homework pass. It teaches them how to manage money, balance a checking account and math life skills. I can provide more depending on age and content area.

I will be going into some of their classes, but the para educators will be covering elsewhere. It’s impossible for me to do all of it, but that’s what our school system wants by getting rid of enough funding to pay more than one teacher. It’s insane, but has to be done. 🤣🙈... I think I’ll definitely try your methods. I think the kids would enjoy that

Hello Fellow Fishies! I have taught for eleven years as a gen ed teacher, using my sped cert unofficially. I am excited to begin teaching as an inclusion teacher within three- 7th grade classrooms.
I've been given a budget to spend, but do not really know what I'll be needing, as I'll be in other teacher's classrooms.
What is helpful for you that you have purchased or wish you had purchased? I'm not looking to spend money just for the sake of spending it, but I do have $300. Thank you!

Would you be okay being the first non-white hire at a small agency? Like they are making their first effort to bring diversity in (making it clear that you are not just a diversity hire), but you are going to be alone in a sea of white faces. I personally don’t know how to feel about it but I’d love to hear other opinions.

Hi,

I have accepted an offer from Mindtree and my DOJ is 8th Sept. Will I get salary in September or will it be paid with October's salary?

I'm a long-time Houstonian who's been away for 7 years and is finally coming back for a visit!

Looking for new interesting or unique places to go. I like anything with a gimmick.

Old favorites include the Bookstop that was once a movie theater (closed years ago), Hobbit Cafe, 59 Diner, Treebeards, Phoenicia Market, the Angelika Theatre 😢.

I'm especially looking for:

- a good Tex-Mex rec (my old fave didn't survive 2020)
- unique bookstores
- anything else weird or special! Surprise me 😃

Anxiety before your sales demos?

Do these 2 things I used to do to get over it:

1. Know the product inside out - it will take time for you to gain confidence in your sales abilities but if you know the product will you’ll be more confident in that domain.

2. Do more demos - the more calls and presentations you do the more comfortable you’ll get. My advice is to try to get on a lot of presentations, even with leads that aren’t so good.

There’s nothing like waking up to a call on August 1 from my district coordinator telling me that they want to move me from my middle school resource room SpEd position (which I love) to K-5 Setting 3 SpEd position. I told her all the reasons that won’t work for me and even gave her another idea that would require a non-licensed teacher to be moved so I could take her place at the hs. So, I’ll be spending my Monday applying for a new job in another district. How’s your Monday going so far? 😭😔
