Looking for some quick icebreaker ideas! Team is getting together for the first time in a long time and now has a bunch of new members. We are still hybrid so some will join in person and some will be remote.

Everyone draws their favorite snack and a few of the worst drawn snacks are volunteered to play show and tell as if their snack is getting drafted (have them insert a screenshot of their drawing in a template you send). Everyone else has to share what they liked and didn't like about the presentation in a professional way. Best delivered / received "didn't like" comment gets a prize. Then you can talk about the importance of being at peace with plz fix comments lol.

What is the longest you've waited in line for, and was it worth it? If you could have one song play as your entrance music every time you entered a room, what would it be? (I've used this to make a collaborative team Spotify playlist afterward where people can add other songs) If you could have a lifetime supply of one thing (aside from currency) what would you pick and why? Rose, bud, thorn - rose = something that came to fruition recently, a bud = something you're looking forward to in the future, thorn = something that's not going as well. You could do this for work or outside of work. (Ex - my team just shipped a new feature, my kids Halloween costume is going to be awesome, and my husband's coffee making skills make me miss the office espresso machine).

Great ideas! We were planning to have a discussion similar to the rose, bud, thorn related to work but I kind of like incorporating the personal life too.

Put team into small groups (3-4) and ask each group to find something they all have in common with each other and then share back what they learned with the broader group...allows for a lot of fast discovery about people, you can learn a variety of random facts and doesn't take too long. I did this with my team a few weeks ago and it seemed most people enjoyed it. (Idea assumes you can do breakouts in your virtual 'meeting room')

I like highs and lows-it’s something we did at the beginning of my improv classes to loosen each other up and know what state we are in. We all shared one high from the week and one low from the week. If somebody had a bad low, we made an effort to raise them up. If somebody had a good high, we celebrated.

Yes, love this. We were planning to do something similar after the initial ice breaker. It's great because our team is a team in the sense we all do similar things, but we don't work on most projects together. So I think having the additional perspective from outsiders will be really helpful for the lows.

All things equal - would you take 150 base and 300-400+ OTE to work remote for a Series C tech firm out of NYC? Or 120 base and 275 OTE to work for a Series B out of Scottsdale? Total newbie. Today the same work that took me 5 hours to complete took 1.5hr for a coworker. I’m keep seeing this pattern on different kinds of work, from research to formatting. Any thoughts on praying in the office? I’m in the London office and because of some confident bothers, we were able to use conference rooms to pray. Now in my new firm, I’m the only Muslim and so when I do go in, find it hard to find a place. I don’t want to announce it and make a big deal, just want to pray quietly, otherwise I’d have to save my salah for home.
