Looking for some thoughts on the pros/cons of contract work/temp-to-perm roles VS full time direct hire? I’ve been an EA for 30 years and have always been direct hire. I am now on the market and being approached by a lot of contract opportunities with seemingly good rates. Aside from the obvious lack of health insurance, are there other downfalls to contract work? Coming up on promotion eligibility- what should I be looking for?

Background: I’m in an engineering role where there only two of us for the entire organization, I could theoretically get promoted 4 or 5 times before I “cap out.” I started at the lowest level making ~70k. I know other organizations offer the next level at around ~90k. I really like my employer and ability to be fully remote, so I don’t necessarily want to switch companies.

Should I mention why I left a company or why I am leaving my current company in my resume? I left one start-up company after 10 months due to loss of funding and exodus of the development team. I am leaving this company after 6 months as we are now on our 3 CEO in 8 months and have lost 50% of our staff. Back to back short tenures has be concerned.
