Spent ~4.5 years in the Big 4 doing public sector cloud consulting. Left that to join FANG for ~2 years. I have 4-5 relevant certifications and an active top secret clearance. Looking to leave FANG for $200k base. Any thoughts on where to look?
Hi EY and Fishes everywhere! I might be getting an offer to join tax as an S1 (or exp. assoc), probably not being able to start until mid August based off how the process has been. However, I currently work at a mid size firm and we’re already getting into busy season. How would it look if I asked EY to postpone my start date till after 10/15 and say that I’m not ready to be thrown into a Big 4 busy season and that I don’t want to leave my current firm out to dry. Thank you all so much! @EY
How much one should ask from big 4 Netherlands for a Sr. Con with 3.5 YoE in cyber security? And which city is better for living in Netherlands? Pls guide.
EY - been seeing a few open roles for ‘Strategy & Transactions’ lately such as ‘Transaction Strategy and Executin’. Are these EY-P/PJP or something more akin to transaction services/vals/M&A integration? Currently at big 4 strategy with focus on CDDs and business model redesign.
When are the typical busy seasons for Baker Tilly Federal Tax (or other middle market firms)? Mainly just curious if it’s the same year round busy season I’m used to at big 4 due to regular tax compliance, quarters, and various public/private financial statement audits.
Currently a senior consultant at B4 in LCOL city making $105K. Received offer at Microsoft in Bay Area for $130K base, $100K equity and 10% bonus for an associate role. Everything about the role is great except for the leveling given I am up for manager this year. Would appreciate your insights as I’m really struggling with this.
What is PwC DAT equivalent at the other 3 big 4 firms and which firm pays the highest for this type of roles?
B4 to FAANG Exit opp question: Would an advisory consultant for AWS role be a step down from my current role as a Manager at a Big4 firm? What have others transitioned to from the same level at B4?
Is it worth going to a smaller firm like Crowe, Baker Tilly, etc in order to break into FDD? Or should I keep looking at Big 4? I'm coming from risk advisory (current S1 CPA), so the switch seems very difficult.
My rotation opportunity here is on hold indefinitely due to covid, and from the firm's side, they prefer external hires from audit (good experience, steal them from other B4, no transfer politics).
For those who have been in a top 10 firm and big 4...likes and dislikes? Quality of life differences? (Skip on the exit ops and prestige of big 4 on the resume...yes yes, we all know that 😉)
First year as a Manager here (TAG) and my ye bonus is over $100k. Blown away. I keep hearing insane numbers about people who’ve been here even longer. Curious how others did?!
What is currently salary trend in Risk management domain ( model development/ validation) in banks or big 4 or consulting firm in india . . What are your side hustles?
Wanting some extra side income and building something side by side, working in a big 4,going to a new country "Canada" in January!
Help would be appreciated. City is Vancouver!
Just decided to go independent. Having trouble finding work as a contractor with other consulting firms. How do you get projects with the MBBs, Big 4, etc? I only know about pwc talent exchange...
What does your firm call client accunt executives? Is this B4 only or does MBB have too?
What would you choose, Big 4 or T2 firms like GT or BDO?
I have been in Deloitte since ever and wanted to consider moving to other firms.
Does it necessarily have to be another Big4?
What are the advantages/disadvantages of moving to a Tier 2 firm?
Would be really helpful if someone who has seen both sides could elaborate in terms of difference in culture, pay, work life balance, etc.
We have many openings in our consulting practice as we are growing and onboarding high profile clients. This would be the perfect fit for someone looking to get out of the Big 4 environment into a more mid-tier firm, with a client base expected at a larger firm.
Senior Risk Consultant, IT
Spouse being potentially transferred to Atlanta. What reputation do the big 4 firms have there? I’m in tax.

Thoughts for Tuesday.
Are there any good shops in Southern California? Starting to feel like I want to move back closer to family but also feel like that means I’ll have to go in-house.
There was so much buzz about RUST programming language 2 years ago. Where does it stand now?
I appreciate the unity in this bowl - consulting, advertising, law and finance all united by our love of food.
One column resume or two column resume, which one do you think will be good to get into a interview?
Lets have a meeting about meeting fatigue 😅

Need advice on wedding planning.... torn between buffet or plated dinner. To me Buffett looks so “cheap”, but I’m having a barn wedding and think plated dinners look classier. Thoughts?
As someone who is self taught but going to finish school in two years, what would be my next step? how do I know if the path I’m on is the one that will lead me to a career I love and enjoy. I enjoy what I do know but I want more. I just don’t know what’s all out there but I know I want and can do more 🥵
Tuesday Profound Thought:
Top of the day to you all.
I have started a YouTube channel for DevOps and Cloud related technologies.
I'd really like to help if you folks have any question about the career in DevOps, etc
Feel free to drop your queries, dm, and suggestions, if any. I will try my best to answer.

FYI, all: McKinsey works for oil companies. I know no other firms ever would do such a thing, so wanted to get it off my chest. Thanks for listening.
I am a Partner and exiting out of consulting in Tech. Is it better to exit in corporate strategy or GTM strategy for longer term upward and broader career mobility? I enjoy both but need to decide soon and wanted to hear some high-level perspectives.
What are some of the most influential factors which helped shape your career and led to a successful rise up to PPMD level ?
I have recruitment inquiries from Strategy& and PwC Consulting. How integrated are they? What's the pro and con of each?
Looking for firms/areas where to work on “people” and “org” topics. No longer at BCG left as a sr. Principal to join industry, learnt a fair bit but realize people topics are the space I thrive in and wondering if coming back to consulting would be interesting. Any recommendations on firms who focus a lot on those areas?
Joining Accenture as a lateral MD next month. Any inputs on how to build network and connect with fellow MDs, especially in a remote setup? Are people open to collaborate with “outsiders” at a senior level, or should I expect friction with people protecting their turf and sticking to their own connections? How is the work culture like at MD level? For context, I will join strat and consulting.
I'm an Accenture Managing Director considering a move to Deloitte. I've got 15 - 20 yrs possibly left in my career. Any thoughts on Managing Director vs Principal?
Has your firm gone woke? My leadership is consumed by virtue signaling and social justice to the point where nothing else (even our business) seems to matter. More importantly, they seem oblivious to the fact that not everyone shares their woke sensibilities and they’ve said some highly divisive and offensive things. There is no vehicle for dissent. Thinking of leaving a firm I’ve dedicated my life to as a result. It’s a sad realization.
Considering an MD position at Accenture and need to give comp expectation, its on Strategy side. Of course its based on my own need and desire, but like to hear from (ex)MDs at Accenture if 400k sounds like a reasonable ask for base. And can anyone help me understand the difference between L4 and L3? For reference, I am a Senior Principal with almost 2 years executive industry experience post consulting. Thanks for any insights!
What does your firm call client accunt executives? Is this B4 only or does MBB have too?
I love Joe U. I am glad he is my CEO in this crisis time. The guy is direct, crisp, and inspires confidence that he knows what he is doing. JoeU - if you are reading this - keep up the good work
A penny for your thoughts. Is anyone well served by the legal fights between Jay Alix and McKinsey? Read the pleadings in the RICO case, and the black and white narrative went all grey.
Any recommendations on great travel agents/planners? How do you plan your trips, find great experiences, get great places to stay? My husband and I both work, but barely have time to plan and are super picky and want to make our trips memorable, two young teens also along for the ride….
Any suggestions on how to get an adjunct teaching role at a university. Don't need money or prestige. I enjoy teaching and gives me something to do when I retire in ~10 yrs. Many colleagues who do this are big alumni donors. My Alma mater is too far away to be practical option. I'm an expert in a very in demand field - get quoted in articles all the time but have not been able to connect with anyone in academia.
For those of you who have a much different life than your family of origin, how much support (financial, emotional, time and energy, ect) do you devote to your parents and siblings? My upbringing was ok but I have worked hard to clear out familial problems (drinking, anxiety, hypochondria) and build a very different life and marriage. My sister and mother especially feel very stuck in past cycles and I vacillate on how much I “owe” them. I’m in my 30s now and wonder how others cope over time…
Why is comp shrouded in mystery at B4? Trying to figure out where I am on the totem pole. I’m a 6th year tech partner making 800k. Where are you?
Any partners transfer from Big4 or Accenture to MBB and live to tell the tale? Did you like the change? Did you fit with the culture?
Darn no suggestions!??😭😭
Well the state of this thread is rather sobering isn’t it.
It sure is…I am surprised
I think moral of story is it depends on in your practice. But in some relationships better to market sekf than headhunter.
Good point, 100% about using network. Was hoping a recruiter could give me market view on comp lol.
Every one I talked to explained to my how I was not generally qualified for anything they could offer. One said this in a clever insightful way. The other…not so much.
