I think that last line hits the nail on the head when it comes to data roles - the titles don't always match up with the roles so it's hard to gauge. I would personally start with applying for senior level roles and see what kind of feedback you're getting to find the right fit. I've seen titles differ wildly across companies so can't say what will be a step down or up, it's more about how you communicate the work you do on your resume, interview etc that seems to make the biggest difference

I have thought about doing that ( applied to multiple data jobs at one place) when I’m uncertain of which is the best fit . Sounds like it’s worth a shot

Regardless of your specific path, curiosity is a natural prerequisite of all three of these careers. The ability to use data to ask better questions and run more precise experiments is the entire purpose of a data-driven career. Furthermore, the data science field is constantly evolving and thus, there is a great need to continuously learn more.

My local zoo and park system is looking for an Internal Audit Manager. 5 years experience, CPA preferred. Salary range is $60-75k. Are they completely unrealistic about what someone would be willing to make for that position as a CPA??? Like I've been an auditor, CPA for 8 years now, been a supervisor and a lead. I'd want double.

I do like the work..but I know I’ll be paid atleast 35K more if I leave..and not sure if the next promotion will happen sooner than 3 years..leave or stay? Don’t have much partner or leadership support but not in a bad book as well

How frequently should one expect or advocate for a raise at a small firm? I moved to a new firm (about ten lawyers) about two and a half years ago. After my first year I got a 20% raise following a brief and exclusively positive performance review. Its been about 17 months since then and silence. I have the general sense that the firm struggled a little financially during COVID and I don't want to seem ungrateful or greedy, but apparently the firm is doing well enough to hire more associates.

I can honestly say that working from home these last few years has been the best thing that’s happened to my career as a producer. I never realized how distracting being in an office was. Now, I actually can focus on bidding, scheduling, reviewing contracts, and all of the stressful parts of production WITHOUT having to factor in code switching and a commute. I left my agency producer role for a fully remote producing role and I’m just….thrilled. Anyone else refuse to go back to office? 😩
