Looking into buying a new laptop for mba next year. Should I buy a Lenovo carbon X1 at a discount for cyber Monday? Or wait until 2021 and buy the new generation 9 once it’s released?

Cutting edge doesn't matter with laptops unless you're a gamer. I bought a refurbished T460 and love it. 11 hours of battery life, plenty fast, and less than 600 before a hard drive upgrade.

Carbon’s are great, I have a carbon from 8 years ago, still works like new. Can’t go wrong either way esp if you’re doing MBA and won’t be using anything intensive

like

Seconded. Just remember carbon ram cannot be upgraded so splurge on the RAM if you are going to keep it for a while

Black Friday deal. From memory you get up to 40% off.

Carbon X1

Pick it based on lightness and battery as you’ll be carrying it around so much.

I bought a badass P52 at a great discount for MBA. Wish I would have saved my money, Im not even touching the capabilities of the machine and my employer will give me a computer after the program. Anything running a PC OS will work.

Best piece of advice someone gave me: do not buy a laptop for your mba. You will rarely use it.

lol we’re in remote classes so i would say this is bad advice. definitely don’t buy an expensive one thinking you’re going to be testing the limits with advanced modeling... you won’t be. you’ll be on whatsapp bitching about recruiting mostly

Most schools offer the option to buy a computer with all loaded software much cheaper than if you purchased solo Have you looked to see what type of computer the MBA program offers? And the specs? Do the cost analysis and decide from there The X1 is great tho

All- I have some friends who work at Bain and the more I hear about the place, the more I want to eventually work there. The issue is that my credentials aren’t the best. I will have an MBA from a T15 college in about 2 years time, I have 6 years of experience in analytics consulting, mostly at small firms and startups. I guess I wanted to ask the golden question, do I really have a chance at getting into Bain? If so, how should I plan this out?

This is such a basic question, but what’s the best way to give my two weeks and not have things be completely awkward at work? My boss has a tendency to be passive aggressive towards people that are leaving and given that my office is right next to hers I’m worried my last two weeks are going to be so uncomfortable.
