Hi sharks, What is the process of onboarding in Oracle? I got to know my BGC is clear and they have finalized the start date. I got an excel sheet to fill information like PF, Health insurance and other relevant information for smooth onboarding. I haven't received anything after that. How much is the difference in premiums. People often focus on how much out of pocket they pay and don’t realize that even with the out of pocket, they are paying less because the premiums are so much lower for HDHP.
41 per pay period , 82 for month is the difference
It depends a little on if you foresee an imminent need or if this is just in case. You can typically start with your employer’s EAP and they can help find a therapist and you get 5-10 free visits to start. From there you’d have some fee kick in and then insurance would cover more once you meet your deductible. If it’s something one of you is struggling with already and you think you’ll need significant treatment that’s different than thinking you might need it as a safety net. I’ve had high deductible for years and like it because even with kids and family have been able to build up savings in my HSA. But we’re also generally healthy with not a lot of non-routine medical needs. I used my EAP and continued therapy for 2020 but haven’t done any in 2021. I’m considering it for one of my kids but would probably only be 5-10 sessions for a limited term so wouldn’t have high ongoing cost there.
Confirm for sure with your plan but I believe spouse and dependents are covered as well. My spouse and kids are eligible for my EAP.
I calculate the total likely cost of each plan and compare them, based on my anticipated usage.
HDHP is fine if you’re young and healthy. I’m 34 and got boned this year bc I needed physical therapy for a back injury on a HDHP plan — basically spent exactly the OOP max when another plan would have kicked in support way earlier. So that was my indication that hey, I’m not a spring chicken no mo’, time to switch
Right, hence the annual estimate / max estimate as a critical decisionmaking tool.
Our best plan’s premiums are like $3k per year tho. For $7k in premiums alone I’d be expecting housecalls and a bloody gold-leaf EOB letter for every visit
See if your employer provides any virtual therapy options that are free to use. I know at one point Accenture had free access to Talkspace including the live virtual therapy sessions.
