M&A - Mergers and Acquisitions Professionals

looking into making a switch into M&A work (m&a consulting, FDD, etc). 1+ year of experience in accounting advisory, have CPA. What skillsets should i start learning now to help this transition?

Definitely do not need to know DCF. You just need actg knowledge for FDD and a more broad base on the deal process for consulting (with specifics on where you go along that process, ie strategy or diligence or implementation).

I used to work with FDDs and we had a lot of people transitioning from Audit. I would also say that accounting knowledge is highly appreciated and also in our case most people came from within the firm. So I would strongly encourage to reach out internally (as this is also what the firms sell & support when you are first recruited) and try setting up a meeting with recruiting senior managers and partner.

If anyone wants to join a boutique HR & Talent Advisory consulting firm, Kincentric is hiring for an Associate Partner role! Location doesn’t really matter, but preferably in IL, NY, or ATL.
