Keep it basic but solid. Omega seamaster 300. You can wear it anywhere. It's the watch I wear the most.

I love the Tudor BB58 with the blue bezel white or black face.

Omega AT or IWC MK 18 have my votes. The AT is (IMO) one of the most well rounded versatile watches available. Even better that it is close to your price point, less if you’re willing to do pre owned.
Grand Seiko SBGW231 is beautiful.
IWC, Cartier, Omega, Tag Heuer, Tudor, Breitling are all brands to consider.

I love the Nomos Club Sport 37 in this price range. 200M water resistance, in house caliber, under 9mm thick, and a display caseback.
I have the tissot prx automatic
Someone else recommended Nomos— bauhaus may not be for everyone, but I love the Tangomat and Tangente.
