Personally I think being a manager is less about actually 'managing' your team and more about understanding their responsibilities/workload/goals and providing the environment and resources to help them be successful (unless of course someone is legit just bad at their job). Each person is different and you have to adapt your management style based on what they will respond best to.
Best advice I can give is not to let the title go to your head - especially if you'll be overseeing friends and others who were once your peers. Nothing kills morale like a new manager who thinks they're suddenly more important than everyone else. Also, don't micromanager. Focus on being a leader rather than a supervisor. Trust your employees. Give them the tools and support they need to be successful, then leave them be to do their jobs. Good luck!
I'd just do my best to be an advocate for my supporting cast. "How can I help you be successful? "where are you struggling and what training do you wish to receive?" Questions like that.
