Looking to automate every paycheck and let it run for next 10-15 years. I have vanguard and fidelity. Any suggestion on funds with low expense ratios?

I do exactly this with Vigax and vfiax. I would do the tech one but it’s a 100k minimum lol so i stick to VGT.

I thought you can’t automate VGT?

For Vanguard, I second on VFIAX. For 4 bp, you get the S&P. Look at Russell 1000 / 2000 trackers. You can also get sector funds for 10-15 bp or so.

Someone also suggested VTSAX few days back. Any feedback on that vs VFIAX

VFIAX = S&P500, VTSAX = entire US market. They have performed essentially the same in recent past, but that’s not indicator of the future. I’d go VTSAX for more diversification and know that you’ll most likely get basically the same return either way

Hi! New to investing here. Can you explain what automate every paycheck means? Are you trying to automate sending your money directly into investing? This is only limited to number of ETFs?

Yes, OP wants to set up a recurring transfer from bank account to brokerage and have the deposited funds automatically invested without having to go manually buy shares every two weeks. Mostly you can only do this by purchasing mutual funds and setting them up with the auto investment. To my knowledge you can’t do this with ETFs or individual stocks. I believe that is because etfs and stocks trade as full shares, where as mutual funds, you can buy fractional shares

Since you work at Salesforce, I’m assuming you believe in the continued transition to the cloud. I recommend investing in WCLD if you do.

Can you automate the buying?

Hey I have an ASC840 accounting question on this scenario - a target sold an asset 10 years ago for 10,000,000 and immediately leased it back. They recorded a deferred gain of $1M and amortized it over the term of the lease (still going) and letting that gain every month reduce the rent expense. Since this deal is cash free debt free shouldn’t we treat this as a debt like item? They received the cash in a prior period but we are now stuck with the payments. Debating how to quantify the adjstmnt
