Looking to brainstorm a bit here: my fiancé is potentially going to start looking for a new role after tax season is over. He has about 3.5 years of experience as an account manager at an environmental tech company and then made a career switch to accounting at his family’s firm for 3 years. I think he would like to get back into sales/account management but looking to see what everyone’s advice would be in terms of type of roles and companies to go after!

Would you rather:

1. Work under a client in an org you turned down an offer for your current job - as in most of the clients were your interviewers and wanted to hire you

Or

2. Work under a less cool client so you have time to see if you can maybe get that role you turned down back

I was recently promoted to staff engineer at my company. My role is more strategic and I don’t work in code bases. If I were to change companies I’d likely be most qualified for technical program management. Initially with my promotion TC went from 165k to 185k, then after a slew of resignations the company recalibrated pay and bumped me to 296k TC. This is a big increase, but with the market the way it is I wanted to see what others in the industry think about how competitive it is.

I am looking to make a career change to HR. I currently make 75K as a sales and development coach.
