Growth is slower at sf in my opinion than other places in my experience (can’t speak for PWC)
This. Joined SF and was told likely not to be promoted for at least 2-3 years. Big 4 I moved up far quicker
The mothership probably had a better work life balance. I think the move makes sense, I’m not sure about current timing though. Tbh half the solution architects I’ve met at Salesforce were not very technical ( kinda like big 4 Sfdc consultants) .
I am not very technical, but very comfortable with the platform.

I think it depends on your career goals
I don't want to be doing hands on config work forever and in my current role I am able to manage my team, whereas solution architect is more of a hands on individual role
Unfortunately it is very hard to convince major tech companies that a recession is looming, or even here. IMHO, SF is one of the few behemoths with dignity and empathy left in their core culture. They may have to do more layoffs in 2023 (a few or a lot of other companies will as well).
I’d focus on what you’re looking for in your career path (and there is NOTHING wrong w/pay and benefits being components of that decision), and make your decision based on where you will be happiest as well as feeling secure, fiscally and job-wise.
Agreed. Compensation is not a deal breaker, can work through the wlb but I don't want to be doing staff Aug work as it limits growth and doesn't build engagement delivery muscle. Only pro of sf are their benefits
On the same boat, making a switch no little to no pay bump doesn’t make sense for me

The average quality of my coworkers was so much better at Big4 (PwC and Deloitte) than Salesforce, it's astounding. If you value being a part of big projects that are well-run by strong leaders and teams, Salesforce proserv is not where to go. Engagements where the team is small or you're on your own/staff aug can be fine, but also since sales and delivery are separate functions and there's no accountability, even those can go badly because the customer was sold a bill of goods that can't be delivered. And you get boned on firm initiative because it does doesn't count as billable, and you still have to do it (if you want to get promoted someday, anyway).

Well, like I said, if you want to get promoted, getting involved with high impact internal stuff is crucial.
Just to clarify, your trying to understand the differences/similarities between an SA role at Salesforce VS, say, a Manager at PwC, correct?
Not as it relates to role—responsibilities, but job level, compensation, benefits, growth opportunity, and stability.
I’ll take a swing ⚾️
Job level wise, in PwC, Accenture, etc., terms: SAs range from Sr Consultant, to Assoc Manager, to Manager. Sr SA = Sr Manager.
Compensation wise, Salesforce wins in the short-term, PwC in the the longer term (see growth opportunity below).
Benefits wise, probably equalish but I’m not certain.
Growth opportunity wise, , PwC offers more growth opportunity. PwC keeps you in the middle of complex/enterprise project work and significantly outperform Salesforce in terms of promotion opportunities. And you may not be thinking about it in these terms, but PwC offers a broader range of exit and pivot opportunities.
Side note: Salesforce will outperform PwC in terms of work/life balance and feel-good opportunities around ESG (which is *great* if that’s what you’re looking for).
Stability wise, each has unique challenges to manage. Curious how others feel, but in my opinion, they are prolly equal in terms of stability.
Good luck with your decisions.
Thanks for the detailed feedback. I have similar thoughts, short term Salesforce role Is better but I can't convince myself to be stuck in a solution architect role where I might be staff aug'd and don't learn about more things outside of the platform (sales, program delivery aspects etc. )
Hoping the compensation does even out in the long run but this definitely helps.
NOPE! Stay with PwC.
Lol. I m trying to make a decision but the good folks here have spoken. Thank you one and all for your insights!
