Look 👀 how you position your skills to match their need is how you’ll pull it off. Study what they’re looking for align your skills ahead of the ask. The job market makes this possible
#1. JPM really doesn’t pay that much . $130-$150 for AVP is def a stretch . #2 you don’t have that much experience. 3yrs is not a lot. If you like the role , and if you can get $130k out of them (lower of that range) I’d take it.
Just declined an offer with JPMorgan for a VP title within CDO. Starting salary was $130k for the 12 YOE. They were firm on that number and would not budge when it came down to negotiate. I would assume AVP role would be starting in 105-110k.
Yeah I know. I have few colleagues that referred me for the position and was shook that they didn’t want to negotiate a fair salary.
So here is your data point: I'm an avp (sr assoc) at JPM with 150 base 25 bonus 4 yoe, same background as you
Let us know which group so we can apply

At BofA the cap for AVP band 5 is 130k base and 10-15% bonus. Wish I knew more about JPM pay scales to offer better insight.
Left as an AVP at 95+10%, gained 3 years experience and offered 110+15% for a VP role. That number is far less than what i make as an AVP at another FI. They've had tons of employee attrition from analysts and DS groups because the pay isn't comparable to other FIs. They rely heavily on the name.
Jpmc does not have an AVP role. So I’d assume you’re going for Senior Associate there and that range is a stretch for 3 years experience even in tech. For a VP role, that range might be acceptable but 3 yrs experience is not the norm for a VP role but I know external hires get more slack than internal hires. Although you won’t really know until you ask. Others have suggested in the past for you to ask them their salary range expectations but have never tried it myself. Best of luck!
I think this is a little bit of a stretch. I’m pretty sure AVP is going to cap out around 130k. But, you could always ask and see what they say.
Most of tech is outsourced to a bunch of consultants and I’ve seen them be paid 3x what an employee internally would be making. If you can’t beat them, join them.
Housing Wire reported JPM Chase are down 12% Q1 in mortgage production. Banks are shifting and layoffs will increase. Just a side note.
He isn’t a loan officer lol, this is big data. Completely separate from a production based role
Does avp = senior associate?
